Intercultural Mediation Service Application
The Office for Migrant Assistance (PANGEA) offers the new "Intercultural Mediation Service," free of charge to citizens.
What is intercultural mediation?
Intercultural mediation is a process in which a mediation professional facilitates communication and understanding between people of different cultures to resolve conflicts, prevent misunderstandings, and foster integration and coexistence in a diverse society. The mediator acts as a guide, helping the parties understand each other 's cultural background , promoting respect and equality, and facilitating the search for mutually beneficial solutions.
- It is a voluntary process because it requires both parties to agree to participate and accept the solution.
- It is a confidential process because everything discussed in the sessions remains between the mediator and the parties.
- It is carried out through a or several meetings between the parties with the professional mediator in a neutral location to talk, communicate, understand each other, propose, etc., and thus find the most appropriate solution to the conflict.
The main benefits of intercultural mediation include improved communication and mutual understanding between people of different cultures, the prevention and effective resolution of conflicts arising from cultural differences, the promotion of inclusion and respect for diversity, and the fostering of collaborative and sustainable solutions that consider the cultural perspectives of all parties.
To apply for this free resource from the city council, you must submit a specific application online or at the PROP General Registry Office. After receiving the application, the intercultural mediator will contact you to schedule an interview.
If you have any questions about the process, you can contact this service.
