The Municipal Theater hosts the closing of the Carnival with the National Competition of Comparsas and Chirigotas "Ciudad de Torrevieja"

The stages of the Municipal Theater will host this Sunday, February 11, at 6:00 p.m., the last of the 2024 carnival events, the “City of Torrevieja” National Competition of Comparsas and Chirigotas.

In this edition, five groups from different provinces of Spain will give their best performance to win the prizes awarded by the Torrevieja Carnival Cultural Association. A theater packed to capacity, given that the invitations were sold out two days after it was made available to the public, will vibrate with the sound of cuplés, pasodobles and the best rhythm, with lyrics full of satire and criticism.

The great show of the Chirigotas Contest will begin with the performance of the chirigota “Los Gobanilla” originating from the city of Villena. A group that will bring us a repertoire of several pieces where, through music and lyrics, they will talk about the most current topics and with the best staging.

After them, it will be the turn of the chirigota “Los Robison”, from neighboring Cartagena. With an extensive track record, the people from Cartagena will bring us an incredible staging but, above all, lyrics full of messages to the sound of the most Cadiz rhythms.

The members of “La chirigota del Jallullo”, also from the neighboring Region of Murcia, more specifically from Totana, also return to the stages of the Municipal Theater to give the best of their performances, with music and lyrics of their own creation.

The “Chirigota del Soto” from the city of Albox (Almería), arrives with an incredible repertoire of scores, also of its own creation, in which they will not leave anyone indifferent. They will also have the premiere of their “type” so that, along with the best of their performances, they will make the Torrevieja public feel as if they were at the Falla Theater.

As a culmination of this incredible exhibition of art in the purest style of the Cádiz carnival, the evening will close with the Torrevieja chirigota “Los Sangochaos”, who will also participate in making the public of Torrevieja fall in love with them, as always with their lyrics loaded with the best of criticism. , always to the rhythm of the snare drum and the different instruments. An evening that will delight all lovers of chirigotas and where the prizes and long-awaited “Loles Vilella” recognition will be awarded.
