The Torrevieja City Council will carry out an exhaustive analysis of the solar energy potential in all buildings in the city with the help of the Valencian technology company ImpactE, and will launch the Local Energy Community project together with the also Valencian consulting firm Smart To People.

The meeting will take place at 10:30 a.m. this coming Thursday, May 2, in the Board Room of the Real Club Náutico Torrevieja. Admission is free, with no limit other than the capacity of the premises. At the end of the meeting, participants will be able to chat informally over coffee in the RCNT rooms.

This first information meeting is of a general nature and aimed at citizens, SMEs and groups potentially interested in the energy transition, including property managers, real estate developers, associations or entities representing women, older people and young people and citizens in general. It will deal with individual and collective self-consumption and Local Energy Communities, an instrument designed by European and Spanish legislation to promote self-consumption.

ImpactE's work will provide a detailed view of the photovoltaic energy generation potential in each of the buildings in the municipality. With this information, the owners or users of properties will be able to make a better-founded decision to participate in the energy transition towards a model based on renewable sources - photovoltaic energy - and energy self-consumption, going from being a mere passive consumer to a prosumer - producer and consumer. - of your own energy.

The project proposes to promote the energy transition by promoting the creation of at least one local energy community, at whose disposal the roofs of municipal buildings and infrastructure that are most appropriate will be made available.

The extension of the new model will mean a reduction in their electricity bill for individuals who participate. Businesses and companies will increase their competitiveness and improve their accounts. All will contribute to reducing the emission of greenhouse gases.

The project has received a subsidy from the Department of Participation, Transparency, Cooperation and Democratic Quality within the 2023 call for financing actions to implement and promote the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda, at the local level.
