The Torrevieja City Council, through its Department of Culture, announces the opening of the exhibition “I won’t touch it anymore” , a collective artistic project developed by the students of the Municipal School of Painting, under the direction of the artist Mar García Torregrosa, which can be visited at the Virgen del Carmen Cultural Center from May 19 to June 7.

The opening will take place next Tuesday, May 19, at 7:00 p.m., offering the public the opportunity to delve into a unique exhibition proposal that arises from experimentation, uncertainty, and acceptance of the creative process.

AN ARTISTIC PROCESS MARKED BY EXPERIMENTATION AND UNCERTAINTY

“I won’t touch it anymore” arises as a response to an unconventional approach: working on a three-meter canvas without primer or frame, using exclusively a black pigment that, through an oxidation process, naturally generates a rich range of shades that range from blues, violets, greens and ochres.

This technical constraint led the 64 participating artists to engage in an open creative process, characterized by constant intervention and restraint. The artwork was constructed through observation, doubt, and acceptance, allowing each gesture, each drop, and each reaction of the material to shape the final piece.

The exhibition reflects a genuine dialogue between the artist and the material, where the initial intention gives way to the natural evolution of the support. Throughout the process, the artists themselves have repeatedly used the expression "I won't touch it anymore," as a way of acknowledging the moment when the work finds its equilibrium, thus giving the exhibition its title.

The result is a proposal that transcends technique to delve into the sensory, inviting the viewer to discover suggested landscapes, hinted forms, and spaces open to personal interpretation.

The journey through the exhibition is conceived as an immersive experience in which the visitor can explore different visual atmospheres that evoke natural elements such as watercourses, forests or abysses, generating an emotional connection with each work.

The combination of stains, strokes, and blank spaces constructs an artistic language that aims to suggest rather than define, challenging the viewer to complete the meaning through their own gaze.
