Implementation of separate collection of biowaste in large generators
The project consists of the implementation of a door-to-door selective collection system for the organic fraction aimed at hospitality establishments, educational centers and senior residences in the municipality of Torrevieja.

Project objectives
- Implement separate collection of biowaste in large generators.
- Ensure proper segregation at the source.
- Reduce the amount of organic matter sent to landfills.
- Make progress towards meeting European recycling targets.
- Promote environmental awareness in the hospitality and education sectors.
Actions taken
- Supply of specific bins and compostable bags.
- Incorporation of low emission (CNG) collection vehicles.
- Planning specific door-to-door routes.
- Information and monitoring campaign using environmental inspectors.
- Direct awareness-raising actions targeting large generators.


Impact and sustainability
The implementation of this system allows for the valorization of organic matter through its transformation into compost or digestate, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and contributing to the transition towards a circular economy model.
The project represents a decisive step forward in the modernization of the municipal waste management system and lays the foundations for its future expansion to the entire municipality.
