In the Board of Spokespersons held on the morning of today Friday, March 18, it has been agreed unanimously by all the political groups with representation in the Torrevieja City Council to name a street in memory of the victims of sexist violence. For all these reasons, the mayor, Eduardo Dolón, has reported that he has given orders to the Councilor for Census and Statistics so that when new streets or avenues are ready, one of them will be dedicated to women victims of sexist violence.

Eduardo Dolón has recalled in the Board of Spokespersons that the Torrevieja City Council has already paid tribute to the victims of sexist violence. Specifically, on November 25, 2012, coinciding with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, a commemorative sculpture was unveiled and a plaque was placed in the Parque Reina de la Sal in the Los Balcones urbanization with the name by Carla Vaquera, who died along with her son in the tragic train accident in Santiago de Compostela, and who dedicated her entire life to saving women threatened with death by their partners through the foundation “La mujer es una Diosa”.
