The Councilor for Tourism of the Torrevieja City Council, Rosario Martínez Chazarra, has presented at a press conference the program of activities that will take place in the next edition of the Madrid International Tourism Fair (FITUR), which will take place from 18 to 22 January.

As in past editions, Torrevieja maintains its presence within the exhibition space of the Costa Blanca brand, integrated into the Valencian Community, thus presenting a unified image of our region. The Costa Blanca stand is located in Hall 7 and has a total area of 1,550 square meters.

The city of Torrevieja participates once again in one of the most important fairs in the world in order to promote its destination through the tourist brands Costa Blanca and Comunidad Valenciana. In this line of cooperation, and in order to offer an adequate information service, Torrevieja Tourism sends three informants who will be present throughout the fair.

Rosario Martínez explained that the activities scheduled at FITUR 2023 will focus on various lines of work. First of all, the agenda will begin next Wednesday, January 18, with the presentation at the Costa Blanca stand of a new tourist video of Torrevieja, which includes spectacular aerial views in high definition and which presents all its tourist offer under the slogan "Torrevieja, we connect". In this advertising spot we highlight the new tourist products offered by our salt flats, such as Gourmet tastings in the mountains of salt in front of the pink lagoon and guided tours on foot or by bike. And, of course, you cannot miss our beaches and our Natural Park of the Torrevieja and La Mata Lagoons.

The mayor of Tourism has informed that another line of action is the promotion of the gastronomy of our land, which also has a space on the fair agenda. In this case, hand in hand with the Association of Hospitality Entrepreneurs of Torrevieja and the Region, which will offer on Wednesday, January 18, a culinary exhibition "show-cooking" of gazpacho sailor, by chef Mónica Andreu Pina, from Las Canas restaurant. During this day and taking advantage of the expectation created around the culinary event, the Board of Directors of the Hospitality Association will present the extensive Annual Calendar of Gastronomic Events 2023.

To end the program for the first day, and as a result of the tourist and cultural collaboration agreement signed last year by the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez Almeida, and the mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, different promotional actions will be carried out in Madrid , being this parade, organized by the Torrevieja town hall and the Torrevieja Carnival Cultural Association, the first to be held. It will be the first time in history that the Torrevieja Carnival parades alone through the center of Madrid, on Wednesday, January 18, starting at 5:00 p.m., along Calle Preciados, from Plaza de Callao to Puerta del Sol. , deploying all the music and color of this great party coinciding with the celebration of the International Tourism Fair (FITUR).

On the second day of the fair, Thursday, January 19, the presentations will focus on the promotion of sports tourism, with the presentation of the most outstanding and relevant activities for the international market. Also to the promotion of the "Brilla Torrevieja" festival poster, nightlife and the "Live December in Torrevieja" campaign, which shows us the richness of our patron saint festivities and the colour, activity and vibrant light of our city at Christmas. As well as the presentation of the events scheduled for Carnival 2023 and the national Drag Queen contest at the LGTBI stand of Turisme CV.

Finally, for Friday, January 20, two presentations are scheduled: Challengers Spain: Rising MediaMarkt Intel, the national VALORANT league organized by LVP (GRUP MEDIAPRO) with the participation in Torrevieja of the two best teams of the VALORANT course in the grand finale of the competition, and which places the city on the map of video game competitions.

Likewise, the second edition of TORREVIEJA WEEKEND will be announced, which represents a very important commitment to promoting our city as a pole of attraction thanks to a dynamic, modern and daring trade, with the great fashion show organized by the designer Eduardo Navarrete.

In addition to these activities, numerous meetings will be held with important shipping companies, as well as with institutions and companies in the sector in order to establish lines of collaboration with other organizations that favor greater promotion and projection of the city at the national and international level. The councilor highlighted, among the different working days, the signing of an agreement with the concessionaire company for the exploitation of the salt pans, Salins du Midi, the adhesion of the City Council to the Exquisite Mediterrani for future collaborations with Tourism in gastronomic matters and, also, she is planned to work so that our city hosts, once again, a great event.
