The Councilor for Quality of Urban Services of the Torrevieja City Council, Sandra Sánchez, reports that last Friday the award of the contract for urgent actions in public lighting in the town was approved by the Local Government Board (JGL).

Sandra Sánchez has indicated that the object of this contract is the correction of several deficiencies detected in the public lighting in different locations of the municipality, whose repair is not contemplated among the works to be carried out in the current contract for maintenance and conservation of public lighting. The works have been awarded for 66,295.90 euros (VAT included), with a duration of 2 months.

Among the actions to be carried out is the reform of the exterior lighting installation of the Quirón Hospital, due to the fact that part of this lighting is public and, therefore, must belong to a municipal lighting installation.

Part of the lighting circuits of Islas Hormigas must be restored and incorporated into public lighting, the road and two interior green areas, since they are currently fed from supply points outside the City Council. Damaged luminaires will also be replaced to adequately illuminate the area.

In addition, the commissioning of the public lighting located at the roundabout of the CV-905 towards Los Montesinos, belonging to the Municipality of Torrevieja; and the installation of a new point of light at the pedestrian crossing at the height of the Orihuela street roundabout towards the Ronda Ricardo La Fuente branch, to improve visibility and guarantee the safety of pedestrians.

Three light points will also be installed on the Paseo del Acantilado in the Cabo Cervera urbanization, due to the need to provide lighting for a section that has a pedestrian crossing and an emergency exit.

Finally, Public Lighting will be provided for the passage of Calle Alborán, located between the Residence of the Carmelite Sisters and the Colegio La Purísima, which currently does not have lighting throughout the municipal layout.
