The Local Government Board of the Torrevieja City Council approved yesterday the contracting of the works of the La Mata Pedestrian Path, which will mean the total renovation of this important promenade in the city. The contract winner was the company UTE ORTHEM-ABALA, with a drop of 10%, the total cost of the work being almost 4 million euros (3,929,612 euros). Once the works have been awarded, the performance could begin in just two weeks.

The project comprises two sections and almost one linear kilometer of action. The Northern Section, between the northern limit of the municipality of Torrevieja (in front of the Acequión de La Mata canal) and the Plaza de Encarnación Puchol, with a length of 310 meters. And the Central Section, between the south of Plaza de Encarnación Puchol and Avenida de Los Europeos, with a length of 660 linear meters.

It should be noted that with the execution of these works, the comprehensive repair of the Pedestrian Path will be carried out in these two sections that are in poor condition, as well as the replacement of the existing light points in the three sections with models with LED technology. .

A constructive solution is intended that is continuous with the current one from the point of view of appearance (wood), ecological and removable, similar to the existing one, but seeking to reduce maintenance and greater durability. The flooring is planned with technological wood or similar, in view of the good results obtained in other similar actions (such as on the Barceloneta beach), from the point of view of its duration.

The solution consists of creating a rigid platform made up of modules 3 meters wide and 2.90 meters long, using five treated pine wood beams placed longitudinally and braced together (crosswise) using billets of the same wood placed between the longitudinal beams.
