La Siesta Park hosts a large Pump Track of 4,000 m2 for skateboards and BMX bicycles, very popular among the youngest, with three well-differentiated areas: Advanced Pump Track, Medium Level and Children. All facilities are surrounded by 300 units of trees, two plateaus of climbing vegetation, including bougainvillea, more than 2,000 m2 of planting area fed by sprinklers and 2,500 m2 of green areas with plantations of more than 20,000 aromatic and shrub plants. The mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, together with the Councilor for Parks and Gardens, Concha Sala, and a large part of the councilors of the Popular Party Government team, inaugurated La Siesta Park this morning, which they have Hundreds of residents from the area and from all over Torrevieja attended, especially international residents and families with their children.

The inauguration was attended by numerous athletes from clubs of different disciplines in Torrevieja, who were able to enjoy the numerous sports facilities in the park.

This municipal park (located between Henri Matisse, Ravel and Guridi streets), has become one of the most important and complete in the city of Torrevieja, since it has a total area of 44,000 square meters, with an investment of almost 5 million euros and which has generated a large multi-sports area for the enjoyment of citizens. It should be noted that this entire large municipal park is perimeter fenced, with opening hours in the morning and closing hours at night. For its care and maintenance, the City Council has made available to the park seven workers from the municipal green team and four janitors, who yesterday took up their positions, assigned to the Sports area, who will be responsible for the management of the park.

La Siesta Park is one of the largest green areas in the urban area of Torrevieja, only surpassed by the surface of the Aromatic Park in Torreblanca, much more discreet in its range of facilities. It has two main entrances, from Granados Street and Henri Matisse Street, giving way to the central path that stands out, in its central part, for the presence of a dry fountain with 10 water jets, with built-in lighting.

It is a multipurpose park, with several areas for sports spaces such as 3 paddle tennis courts, 1 basketball court, 2 3-a-side soccer courts, 1 hockey rink where skating classes can be given, and a multisport court. Due to the great demand from petanque players, the number of these facilities has been expanded, up to a total of 10 courts. A complete area of bio-healthy elements and physical exercise for different ages, such as calisthenics, an amphitheater that has an electrical panel to be able to program any type of recreational and cultural event.

In addition, it has a central plaza of more than 1,000 m2 from where the entire park can be viewed. More than 400 m2 of areas dedicated to children's games for different ages, including a small climbing wall for children and 3 picnic areas where you can spend a full day with your family. It has a kiosk/bar, which will be put out to tender shortly and will come into service in the coming weeks, as well as 2 toilet stalls adapted for people with disabilities, located near the petanque courts and the Pumptrack. More than 700 m2 of area for dogs, with numerous Agility elements for recreation, discipline and exercise, both for large and smaller dogs.

And finally, the already famous Pumptrack of more than 4,000 m2 completely paved and has 3 levels of use, professional, medium level and children, being the largest paved pump track in Spain.

All these facilities are surrounded by more than 300 units of trees, two plateaus of climbing vegetation, including bougainvillea, more than 2,000 m2 of planting area fed by sprinklers, almost 2,500 m2 of green areas with plantations of more than 20,000 aromatic plants. and shrubs.

IMPROVEMENT OF CONNECTIVITY AND TRAFFIC IN THE AREA

To improve connectivity and traffic in the area, the expansion of Ravel Street has been planned, with all water, sewage and telecommunications services, as well as an increase in parking spaces. In addition, the extension of the bike lane that connects the María Luisa park on Granados Street with the existing one on the CV-905 road has been arranged, favoring the very important use of bicycles.

RESERVATIONS TO PLAY ON THE PADEL COURTS

Reservations for paddle tennis courts to play in the park must be made through the Department of Sports app (torreviejasportcity), with payment being made at the La Siesta park concierge.
