Nearly 1,000 4th grade students from all schools in Torrevieja and ALPE have participated in this environmental reforestation activity from January 27 to 31

The Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, together with the Councilor for Education, Ricardo Recuero, the Councilor for Parks and Gardens, Concha Sala, the director-conservator of the Natural Park of the Lagunas de La Mata-Torrevieja, Francisco Martínez, the manager of AGAMED and the deputy manager, Jorge Ballesta and Gemma Cruz, have participated this morning in the last day of planting and regeneration of trees in the Natural Park of the Lagunas de La Mata and Torrevieja, which is being developed on the occasion of the celebration of Tree Day 2025. Actions that have been carried out throughout this week and in which schoolchildren from the 15 educational centers of Torrevieja and ALPE have participated, becoming one of the most participatory and important plantings in recent years in the Valencian Community.

The nearly 1,000 4th grade students who have participated in this planting have received different informative talks during the past week to raise awareness of the importance of ecological regeneration and the planting criteria. In addition, the educators of the Natural Park have given these sessions prior to the planting and, at the time of regeneration, the students have followed the technical instructions given by the park workers.

A total of 650 trees and shrubs have been planted by the students in three different plots of the Natural Park, with native species such as kermes oak, mastic, tamarisk, lavender, juniper, blackthorn, fan palm, santolina, Aleppo pine, buckthorn, rosemary and carob.

To carry out this activity, AGAMED has carried out the preparation and adaptation work of the planting area, located in the upper part of the Park, as well as the auxiliary irrigation and plant protectors. Leroy Merlin has also participated in this environmental regeneration action by giving all the students who participate shovels, buckets and gloves for planting the trees.

Finally, the mayor, Eduardo Dolón, has highlighted the importance of our young people carrying out this type of activity so that they become aware of and learn about the environmental values that the new generations should have and see first-hand how to reforest green spaces and areas in the municipality. The mayor has indicated that these actions with the schools of Torrevieja will be continued so that they are carried out every year and our children have the opportunity to plant at least one tree.
