This morning, the meeting of the Torrevieja Port Board was held at the offices of the Ports of the Generalitat Valenciana, attended by the Director General of Coasts, Ports and Airports, Marc García; the Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, and the delegate of the Consell in Alicante, Agustina Esteve. The meeting was attended by all the entities and companies that are located in the port of the city such as the Real Club Náutico de Torrevieja (RCNT), the marinas of Marina Internacional and Marina Salinas, the Fishermen's Guild, the Torrevieja salt flats, the tourist apartments of Marina Internacional, the dry dock and the concessionaire company of the Leisure Centre in the port of Torrevieja.

The Director General of Ports has announced that the Torrevieja City Council has the relevant authorisation and approval to carry out the works to enhance the Mínguez Dock, and so the works are already going to start. Also, the primary electrification works of the port area, that is, the redevelopment works of the whole area that is contemplated in the Paseo La Libertad and its surroundings, will begin shortly and, on March 1, the hippies' huts will be removed and moved to the Vía Verde, where they will be installed and which will be open to the public during Easter.

Marc García has highlighted that the Port of Torrevieja is the most important in the Valencian Community along with that of Denia, and that more than 100 million euros are currently being invested between the concessionaire company of the Leisure Centre and the Torrevieja council.

In parallel, the Valencian government is working on the entire process of obtaining a global concession for the works in the area around Eras de la Sal and for the works to reorganise and redevelop the port front. This concession will be ready in March. This global concession is necessary for the City Council to be able to start the works on the new auditorium at Eras de la Sal, which is planned to occupy the old dry dock at the Marina Internacional sports port.

The Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, has announced that the Government team's intention is for the 2026 International Habaneras and Polyphony Competition to be held in this new space at the Eras de la Sal.

Another of the issues discussed this morning at the Port Roundtable with the representatives of the ports and nautical clubs of Marina Salinas, Marina Internacional and RCNT was the issue of the concession extension that they require to continue with their activity. An extension that depends on the investments that these ports are going to make and that have already been presented to the Director General of Ports.

The head of the concessionaire company that is executing the Leisure Centre at the port of Torrevieja, Enrique Riquelme, has announced that the underground car park, with 640 parking spaces, will open in March, in parallel with the opening of the entrance traffic road that will run from Avenida de La Libertad to the Levante Dock. In addition, Riquelme has reported that in July, once all the works on the Leisure Centre have been completed, it will be inaugurated.

Finally, the Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, has announced that the pedestrian walkway that will connect the Levante Dock with the upper part of the Leisure Centre could be completed in June of this year 2025.
