
Torrevieja City Councillor for Safety and Emergencies, Federico Alarcón, and Torrevieja Fire Chief, Tomás Gallardo, presented the action plan for the earthquake drill to be held tomorrow, Friday, March 21, at 9:30 a.m., at the Tavi y Carmona Sports Centre.
This drill is being carried out to commemorate a historic event, the 1829 earthquake that struck Torrevieja and part of the Vega Baja region. Above all, as the councilor for the area, Federico Alarcón, added, "we are prepared to know how to react in adverse situations."
More than fifty members of the Local Police, Civil Guard, Fire Department, and Civil Protection will work together to implement the action plan for tomorrow, Friday, the drill.
Fire Chief Tomás Gallardo has indicated that the preventive evacuation will be carried out at all schools in Torrevieja. However, a series of events will take place at the "Tavi y Carmona" Sports Center and at the Las Lagunas Secondary School, where the Security and Emergency services involved will address the seismic emergency. Once the situation is resolved, a press conference will be held to explain what happened and how the drill was carried out.
The Councilor for Security and Emergencies, Federico Alarcón, expressed his gratitude for the willingness and actions of all the agencies, as well as for the joint work they are doing, as well as the Torrevieja City Council's Department of Education and all the city's educational centers.
