On the occasion of International Book Day and the start of the nesting process of flamingos in Torrevieja for the sixth consecutive season, today, April 24, the University of Alicante Headquarters in Torrevieja, in collaboration with the Tourism and Culture Departments of the Torrevieja City Council , has presented the book "Entre flamencos" edited by the University of Alicante and framed in the TerritoriUA collection.

The presentation of this eminently photographic book took place near the flamingos' natural habitat, the forest house in La Mata Natural Park, and was led by Rosario Martínez Chazarra, Councilor for Tourism; Antonio Quesada, Councilor for Culture of the Torrevieja City Council; Jesús Segarra-Saavedra, Director of the UA Headquarters in Torrevieja; and Federico Kenzelman, author of the book.

Among Flamingos is an initiative of the UA Headquarters in Torrevieja that documents the secret life of the flamingos that nest in the Torrevieja lagoon. This event has been taking place since 2020 and goes unnoticed by most humans. Therefore, this book aims to serve as a link between the viewer and the curious gaze of photographer Federico Kenzelman, who has captured the colony of common flamingos established in the Natural Park of the Lagunas de la Mata and Torrevieja.

In the author's words, he aims to "reflect with these images the majesty of the important natural heritage we have in Torrevieja, and especially that of the numerous colony of nesting birds."

These are moments of pure magic, of wildlife, that take place within the Natural Park of the Lagoons of La Mata and Torrevieja, which have been documented and photographed. The book is now available from the UA Publications Service (https://publicaciones.ua.es/libro/entre-flamencos_161366/) , as well as in bookstores such as La Casa del Libro, 80 Mundos, Seneca, among others. Later, it will be freely accessible and open from the Repository of the University of Alicante (RUA) https://rua.ua.es/dspace/handle/10045/152901
