The contract for drafting the construction project for a day center for Alzheimer's patients has been approved by the JGL.

The Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, accompanied by the Councilor for NGOs, Trudy Páze, and the President of the Alzheimer's Association of Relatives and Friends of Torrevieja (AFA), Purificación García, announced this morning the approval by the Local Government Board (JGL) of the contract for the drafting of the basic project, execution, health and safety plan and waste management plan, for the construction of a Day Center for patients with Alzheimer's and other neurodegenerative diseases, through advance expenditure processing.
The planned Day Center will be located on a plot adjacent to Quirón Hospital in Torrevieja, with a land area of 7,902 m2, a buildable area of 1,566 m2, and a maximum construction area of 2,700 m2. Each bidder will submit a different solution based on the needs of the facilities to be built.
The mayor reported that the base tender budget for the draft project amounts to €299,749.67 (VAT included), with the contract being drawn up for six months.
The deadline for submitting bids will be 30 calendar days, starting tomorrow, May 30th, the date the tender notice will be sent to the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU). Eduardo Dolón has indicated that the execution project will be completed before the end of the year, with the works likely to be put out to tender in late 2025 or early 2026. Therefore, this Day Center for Alzheimer's patients could be fully built by early 2027. The construction cost is estimated at €5,500,000 (VAT not included).
Depending on the needs of the facilities to be implemented, the Day Center will have:
-Access and Administration Area: Reception, Cloakroom, Left Luggage, Management Office, 4 Administration Offices, Multipurpose Professional Room, Office, Auditorium, Restrooms Adapted for Visitors.
-General Services Area: Dining Room, Adapted Restrooms (dining room use), Kitchen, Pantry, Garbage Room, Cleaning Room, Laundry, 4 Storage Rooms, Staff Changing Rooms (Male and Female), Installation Room and Distributor.
-Specialized Care Area: 3 Multipurpose Activity Rooms, Activity and Social Room (Rest Room), Rehabilitation Room, Occupational Therapy Room, 3 Physiotherapy Cabins, Psychology Office, 2 Treatment and Healing Rooms, Medical Consultation, Hairdresser, Podiatry, 2 Multipurpose Offices, Adapted Toilets (Male and Female), 2 Geriatric Bathrooms and Distributor.
Finally, the president of AFA TORREVIEJA thanked the mayor and the NGO councillor for their great involvement from the very beginning in this project for the construction of this Day Centre, which is very necessary to be able to care for an increasing number of people with this disease, with the association currently having a waiting list of no less than 30 to 35 people.
