The comedy "The Show That Goes Wrong," the tribute to Mecano, "The Collection" with José Sacristán, and another "Flavor & Culture": this weekend in Torrevieja.

Wine, music and gastronomy
On Thursday, May 22nd, at 8:00 PM, the Torrevieja Municipal Theater will host a new edition of "Sabor & Cultura," an exclusive experience that combines gastronomy, wine, and music in an intimate and carefully curated format. Organized by Qtal Gourmet, this event has already sold out once again, consolidating its position as one of the most anticipated events for lovers of good taste.
The evening includes a paired tasting of wines from the historic Finca Torremilanos Winery, founded in 1903 in the Ribera del Duero region. The session will be led by Isabel Gutiérrez López, a renowned sommelier, who will guide the audience through a sensorial journey in which each wine will be accompanied by flavors designed to enhance its nuances. The experience will be completed with live music from pianist Cristina Cámara, who will perform a carefully selected selection of pieces from the 1980s, creating an immersive and elegant atmosphere. "Sabor & Cultura" is much more than a pairing: it is a meeting of the senses, where wine, music, and cuisine become a common language for those who know how to enjoy the small, great pleasures.
“The Show That Goes Wrong”: A Disastrously Funny Comedy
On Saturday, May 24th, at 8:00 PM, the Torrevieja Municipal Theater will host one of the most successful and celebrated comedies of the last decade: "The Play That Goes Wrong." This hilarious blend of the absurdist humor of Monty Python and the suspense of Sherlock Holmes finally arrives in our city, having captivated audiences in more than 30 countries.
Winner of the 2015 Olivier Award for Best Comedy, the play portrays a group of amateur actors attempting to perform a mystery play, but where absolutely everything that can go wrong, does. Falls, technical glitches, missed lines, and stage accidents make up this screwball comedy that has delighted more than 8 million viewers since its premiere in London's West End in 2012.
Its success spread rapidly, becoming Broadway's highest-grossing comedy for two seasons. In Spain, the phenomenon continues unstoppable, with more than 1,000 performances and 450,000 viewers in its sixth season.
The show lasts 1 hour and 40 minutes and offers an affordable price starting at €15. Those who arrive early can also enjoy a special surprise: an exclusive pre-show at 7:45 p.m., where the actors will interact with the audience. A night of nonstop laughter, suitable for all audiences.
You can't miss it!
It's so hard for me to forget you: the definitive tribute to Mecano
Also on Saturday, May 24th at 8:00 p.m., but at the Torrevieja International Auditorium, there will be a show that promises to thrill an entire generation: "Me cuesta tanto olvidarte," the best tribute to the most iconic Spanish pop group, Mecano.
As part of a limited-time national tour, this concert recreates with astonishing fidelity the essence, voice, and style of one of the most beloved bands in the musical history of our country. Artist Belén Alarcón dazzles with a vocal and physical performance perfectly reminiscent of Ana Torroja, accompanied by a band of top-level musicians who faithfully reproduce the original arrangements. During the 120-minute show, the audience will relive unforgettable hits such as "Hoy no me puedo levantar," "Hijo de la Luna," "Cruz de navajas," and "Me cuesta tanto olvidarte," among many others. But it's not just the music that will be the star: the original sets, costumes, and choreography have been carefully reproduced to offer an immersive experience that transports the audience directly to the golden years of Mecano.
With tickets starting at €28, this concert will be a unique opportunity to relive the excitement of a unique era. A must-see tribute for Mecano fans, and for those who still believe in the magic of pop.
“The Collection”: José Sacristán and Ana Marzoa in a powerful drama about legacy and memory
On Sunday, May 25, at 7:00 p.m., the Torrevieja Municipal Theater will host the premiere of "La Colección," a play written and directed by Juan Mayorga, one of the most prestigious playwrights on the contemporary scene, winner of the Princess of Asturias Award for Literature (2022), the National Theater Award (2007), and the National Prize for Dramatic Literature (2013), among other awards.
The story begins with a simple question: what will happen to our collection when we are no longer here? From this premise, a plot full of symbolic and philosophical depth unfolds, starring Héctor and Berna, a married couple of collectors who have dedicated their lives to amassing a unique collection. In their old age, they summon two people: Susana, a young collector with a special sensitivity, and Ignacio, an enigmatic character who arouses suspicions and questions. Is he there to assess? To judge? Or to become part of the collection? "The Collection" is a play about attachment to objects, the transmission of legacy, and the search for the meaning of life. All of this is performed by an exceptional cast, led by two legends of Spanish theater: José Sacristán, Goya Award winner, National Film Award winner, and Honorary Feroz Award winner; and Ana Marzoa, winner of the Max Award.
