Torrevieja promotes debate on data-driven tourism innovation

On June 6th, starting at 9:45 a.m., the CDT+i Tourism Center in Torrevieja will become the epicenter of debate and reflection on new data-driven strategies for the management of Smart Tourism Destinations (STDs). The event, with free admission and organized by Torrevieja City Council through its Smart Tourism University Laboratory (TI·LAB), will bring together leading figures from the tourism, technology, and academic sectors to explore how the intelligent use of data can transform and improve destination management and the tourism experience.
The official opening will be followed by a keynote address by María Velasco González, Director of Tourism Research, Development, and Innovation at SEGITTUR, an entity under the Secretariat of State for Tourism responsible for leading the implementation of the DTI model nationwide. Her presentation will focus on the role of collaborative governance as a driver of social innovation.
One of the highlights of the day will be the presentation of the results of the Tourism Data Testing, a pioneering initiative promoted by TI·LAB that allows for the analysis and experimentation of real-world data applied to tourism planning. This will be followed by a networking event to facilitate the exchange of ideas among industry professionals.
The day will culminate with a roundtable discussion entitled "From Concept to Action: Data-Driven Strategies for IT Development," featuring representatives from innovative companies and research centers such as SensingTools, SienConsulting, AnySolution, and TI·LAB. The discussion will be moderated by Josep Antoni Ivars Baidal, Director of the University Institute of Tourism Research (IUIT) at the University of Alicante.
TI·LAB, the University Laboratory for Smart Tourism, is a collaborative initiative between Torrevieja City Council and the University of Alicante.
