This sporting event will bring together more than 500 doctors from different provinces. Twenty-four teams (18 11-a-side football teams and six 7-a-side football teams) will compete, representing 20 Spanish cities. It will be a major national event where camaraderie, sportsmanship, and health will be key factors on and off the field.
The Torrevieja Sports City and the Pilar de la Horadada sports facilities will be the main venues for the championship, jointly hosting this year's matches.
This is a competition that goes beyond football: a well-established event that unites health, sports, science, and coexistence in a privileged setting.
This championship has the full support of the Sports Departments of the Torrevieja and Pilar de la Horadada City Councils, as well as the Quirón Salud Hospital of Torrevieja, which will act as the official medical provider for the event. The Habaneras Shopping Center will be the official venue for the Championship and the ideal space for players' leisure time and refreshments. In addition, many local businesses, organizations, and groups have joined as collaborators to make this top-level sporting event possible.
Dr. Jesús Mesones, president of the organizing committee, emphasized that "this championship represents a unique opportunity for unity among medical professionals through sports. Torrevieja and Pilar de la Horadada offer us the perfect setting to celebrate this edition with quality, commitment, and warmth."
For her part, Diana Box, Councilor for Sports at Torrevieja City Council, emphasized that "Torrevieja is ready to host large-scale sporting events like this one, which combine health and tourism, and establish us as a leading sports destination nationally and internationally."
In addition to the sporting events, participants will enjoy parallel leisure and social activities, as well as a closing ceremony with a trophy presentation. This event, which will take place on Saturday, June 14th, will bring this celebration of sports and medicine to a close.
The winner of this 31st National Medical Football Championship will compete in the World Cup, which this year will be held in Ireland.
SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCES ON SPORT AND HEALTH
In parallel to the championship, the Scientific Conference on Sport and Health will also be held, a professional meeting space that will bring together doctors and specialists to share knowledge, advances, and research on sports practice and its impact on health.
The opening lecture, by Dr. Jesús Mesones, psychiatrist, head of the Mental Health Service of the Torrevieja Health Department and vice president of the Spanish Society of Suicidology, will address a highly topical issue: "Suicide prevention in football: clinical coping strategies."
The conference will continue with presentations on therapeutic exercise for cancer patients, the presentation of the Never Surrender Foundation commemorative trophy, workshops on performance monitoring and fatigue in sports, and will conclude with the organizing committee's conclusions.
This scientific agenda reinforces the championship's value as a space that integrates sport, mental health, science, and social commitment. The championship has the social and corporate support of Torrevieja City Council, Pilar de la Horadada City Council, the Spanish Foundation for Suicide Prevention, the Habaneras Shopping Center, Quirón Salud Hospital in Torrevieja, Klebbon, Iberian Sportech, Ecolac, Espacia Café, Caliche Seguros, the Adiem Foundation, the Never Surrender Foundation, the Spanish Association Against Cancer, and The W Project.
The organizers are already working to ensure Torrevieja can become the permanent host of this tournament and the World Medical Football Championship in future editions. This bid has the support of its surroundings, the quality of its facilities, and a strong institutional, business, and social commitment.
