Torrevieja's five public toilets are now operational.

The Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, and the Councilor for Public Spaces, Federico Alarcón, visited the public restroom located in Waldo Calero Square, which opened this morning.
These five public toilets, which were awarded to the company ABALA INFRAESTRUCTURAS, SL, with a final investment of 398,583 euros, are located in Plaza Waldo Calero, Paseo Juan Aparicio (Plaza Arturo Gómez), El Cura beach, Doña Perfecta Rodríguez Park (La Mata) and Plaza Encarnación Puchol (La Mata).
The mayor emphasized the importance of opening these public restrooms in busy areas of Torrevieja, as they were in high demand by residents and tourists. Eduardo Dolón called on residents to make good use of these public facilities and to care for and respect them.
The restrooms incorporate a PLC (an electronic device programmed to perform control actions automatically) whose programming allows the operation of the following systems to be managed:
-Access control: programmable change machine.
-LCD status indicator panel: Programmable LCD display with status indicator lighting (red-busy, green-free, and blue-out of service). Presence detection system located inside.
-Digital LED clock: installed indoors, it indicates the remaining service time. It is set to 15 minutes and the retail price is €0.50.
-Acoustic alarm: indicates usage time exceeded.
-Use counter. Time-based usage clock to program time intervals and limit cabin use to specific times.
-Accessible interior emergency button.
-Exterior emergency opening.
-Sensors: lack of mains water pressure, soap, disinfectant, and temperature.
-Fan.
-Self-cleaning: After each use, the toilet, sink, and cabin floor are automatically cleaned with pre-sweep detection to ensure no one is inside.
