The city council is putting out to tender the renovation of the former Purísima kindergarten and its annex building, with an investment of more than 4.5 million euros.

The government team will transform both buildings into a new cultural, social, and civic space in the heart of the city.

The building will soon house the new iHub Torretech, a technological innovation service whose objective is to promote entrepreneurship, young talent, startup incubation and local economic development. The new building will have a coworking area, work areas for digital nomads, training classrooms and spaces for workshops and meetings, as well as a hospitality and service area that will be located in the courtyard.

The Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, along with the Councilor for Employment and Youth, Domingo Paredes, announced that the tender for the consolidation and renovation of the former La Purísima kindergarten and annex building will be launched tomorrow after approval by the Local Government Board (JGL). This project is included in the municipal budget and fully financed with its own resources. This innovative project for young entrepreneurs and promoting the city's business network, and European funding is expected to be secured during its construction.

The tender, which will be approved this Friday by the Local Government Board, has a base budget of 4,531,226 euros (VAT included) and an execution period of 18 months . The deadline for submitting offers will be 26 calendar days. The project has been drawn up by the company Xú quer -Arqing SL and will allow the complete transformation of these two historic buildings, in a state of deterioration, into a new facility for cultural, youth and social use .

The mayor of Torrevieja has announced that these works could begin before the end of the year. These projects will host cultural , youth, training, community participation, and multipurpose activities, open to all citizens . Eduardo Dolón emphasized that what he has called "the city triangle" will soon become a reality in the heart of the city center. This will be a focal point for young people, comprising the Torrevieja University Campus, La Plasa, and the former La Purísima kindergarten building. All of this will be complemented by the "Carmen Jalón" Municipal Library.

For his part, the Councillor for Employment and Youth , Domingo Paredes , stated that " this is one of the major renovation projects planned for this term, a clear commitment to the urban centre, to local heritage and to a more cohesive , participatory and functional city model . "

An image of the main façade shows a functional and modern design, fully accessible and respectful of the urban environment of the historic center . It shows how the historic façade of the kindergarten and the nursing home is respected.

An aerial view of the building complex , revealing the integration of the interior courtyards and volumetry with the urban layout. This respects the surroundings, and the library and kindergarten become two municipal facilities that blend aesthetically and functionally.

An interior recreation that reflects a collaborative, modern, versatile and sustainable workspace , designed to be a meeting point for citizens , the city's business community and local cultural entities.

The Councilor for Employment and Youth noted that this project is part of the ambitious Investment Plan planned in this year's municipal budget, which exceeds 33 million euros. " We are rehabilitating unused spaces to return them to the city with new uses and a future vision. This project is an example of how local resources can generate economic growth , employment, and cultural life , " he concluded.

In parallel with this urban development , it has been announced that the building will soon house the new iHub Torretech , a technological innovation service promoted by the Department of Employment, whose objective is to promote entrepreneurship, startup incubation and local economic development through support, training and talent acquisition programs. It will also have a coworking area, work areas for digital nomads, training classrooms and spaces for workshops and meetings, as well as a hospitality and service area that will be located in the courtyard. The contract for its implementation is already being processed , with a total estimated investment of more than 200,000 euros .

Paredes emphasized that " the integration of the iHub Torretech into this renovated environment will contribute to consolidating Torrevieja as a city of opportunities, ready to compete in innovation, training, and attracting talent . " This space will combine architectural tradition and technology to become a driving force for the new local entrepreneurial fabric.
