À Punt will broadcast the closing ceremony of the 71st International Habaneras and Polyphony Competition of Torrevieja.

Torrevieja is known for tourism and habaneras around the world. Its International Habanera and Polyphony Competition celebrates its 71st edition this year. It is one of the oldest and most prominent international events in this musical genre, a competition that Valencian public broadcaster will promote on all its platforms, with special attention to the grand closing gala, which À Punt will broadcast on Sunday, July 27, during prime time (11 p.m.).
The signing of the collaboration agreement between both institutions took place this afternoon at City Hall between the Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, and the President of Valencian Public Radio and Television, Vicente Ordaz.
Ordaz commented that "The Valencian Community resonates with music in every corner, and habanera music from Torrevieja. We want spectators to be able to enjoy the great spectacle offered by the Habanera Contest," and added: "It's a world-class polyphonic competition that defines us as a nation, and À Punt wants to be a platform for everyone to know about it and appreciate it as it deserves."
For his part, the Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, stated that "thanks to the signing of this agreement, the most important cultural hallmark of our city will be broadcast and promoted on Valencian public television, as well as raising awareness, both within and outside our region, of the most important habanera choral competition in the world."
The competition, which has been of international tourist interest since 1994, will begin next Sunday, July 20th, and will end on Saturday, July 26th. 700 choir members, grouped into 17 ensembles, will come to Torrevieja from three continents: Europe, America, and Asia, demonstrating the global character that this competition has year after year.
