Valderrama calls on the Spanish Government to increase the number of Civil Guards in a predominantly tourist municipality like Torrevieja, where the population increases approximately fivefold during the summer.

The Minister of Emergencies and Interior of the Generalitat Valenciana, Juan Carlos Valderrama, held a working meeting this morning with the Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, and the Councilor for Security and Emergencies, Federico Alarcón, in which they discussed various aspects related to these matters.

Juan Carlos Valderrama explained that, in relation to public shows and establishments, work is being done to develop a protocol to expedite sanctioning procedures for those venues that have a greater problem with noise pollution or that may pose a risk to attendees, such as, for example, capacity issues in public establishments .

The mayor and the regional minister also discussed training in security and emergencies. Along these lines, the Generalitat (Catalan Government) will strengthen the security training courses offered by the Valencian Institute of Public Security and Emergencies, expanding ongoing training . Juan Carlos Valderrama announced that an Annual Training Plan will be published in the last quarter of this year . Therefore, a mutual collaboration between the City Council and the Ministry of Emergencies and the Interior has been agreed upon to conduct these courses of various kinds, such as drone management, COMDES network telecommunications skills to know how to operate the network's terminals at all times, and other aspects such as response to major disasters. In this regard, the councilor highlighted the importance of civil protection drills, requiring the city to be fully prepared for seismic risk drills, as carried out annually by the Torrevieja City Council, allowing for the implementation, collaboration, and coordination of various resources in both security and emergency matters.

Regarding the extreme risk warning that is in effect this weekend and that will begin tomorrow, Friday, Juan Carlos Valderrama has indicated that it is very important that all the town councils and organizations involved in the Valencian Community are prepared and keep an extreme watch on the areas at risk of forest fires, and that they monitor and restrict those activities that could cause a forest fire, such as the use of fireworks , as well as informing the public of the importance of immediately reporting to 112 in any smoke situation, or if they see a possible fire, so that all available resources can be activated.

Finally, the minister highlighted the effective and highly coordinated actions of the local police officers, whom he congratulated for their work in the recent incidents, which have been reported in numerous media outlets. Juan Carlos Valderrama called on the Spanish government to increase the ratio of Civil Guards and National Police officers in a predominantly tourist municipality like Torrevieja, where the population increases approximately fivefold during the summer. We need the ratio to be adequate and at least on par with the Spanish national average .
