The Regional Minister of Education, Culture, Universities, and Employment of the Generalitat Valenciana, José Antonio Rovira, together with the Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, and the Councilor for Education, Ricardo Recuero, held an important meeting yesterday afternoon in the Plenary Hall of the City Hall with representatives of the Parent-Teacher Associations (AMPA) of the city's educational centers, as well as the Gabriel Miró FAPA (FAPA), in which the most urgent and future needs of the Torrevieja educational community were addressed. At this working meeting, the regional minister announced several key actions that reflect the Regional Government of Valencia's firm commitment to improving and modernizing the city's educational infrastructure.
Regarding the situation at the Las Lagunas Secondary School, Rovira reported that the Edificant Plan will be delegated imminently to carry out a comprehensive renovation of the school, with an estimated investment of more than 9 million euros, which will be covered by the Ministry of Education.
Likewise, in the coming days, the technical report for the rehabilitation and refurbishment project for the Virgen del Carmen Primary School will be approved, allowing for the bidding process for the roof replacement, patio repairs, and various structural issues.
The Education Minister also announced that the construction of the new IES No. 6 "Eras de la Sal" will be fully undertaken by the Regional Ministry itself, with an initial budget of €250,000 allocated for its construction.
He also reported that the Regional Ministry is also working on delegating responsibilities to the future Infant and Primary Schools Nos. 14 and 15, not to mention the comprehensive renovation of the CEIP Cuba, considered a medium-term priority.
Finally, during the meeting, the councilor also addressed key issues with representatives of the Parent-Teacher Associations (AMPAs) of the city's schools, such as school pressure and joint strategies to address it, school transportation, and concerns raised by the educational community. He expressed his full willingness to continue working in coordination with the schools and families of Torrevieja.
The mayor of Torrevieja expressed his gratitude for the visit, which allowed him to address the demands of the Parents' Associations (AMPAs) firsthand, as well as for the direct involvement of the Ministry of Education and its commitment to providing real solutions to the educational needs of our city.
