14,488 students begin the 2025/2026 school year on Monday, September 8.
Torrevieja City Council's Education Councilor, Ricardo Recuero, announced this morning the figures for the start of the 2025/2026 school year, which begins next Monday, September 8, with a total of 14,488 students in Preschool and Primary, Secondary Education, Vocational Training, Baccalaureate, and Vocational Training.
Significant data for the 2025/2026 academic year: 14,488 students
- Early Childhood Students: 2,231 students and 100 units
- Primary students: 5,738 students and 231
- Secondary students: 4,113 students and 138 units
- Baccalaureate and Vocational Training: 2,406 students and 120 units
Unexpected Students:
- Unexpected students in Primary School between July and August: 457 students
- Secondary school students between July and August: 248 students
The number of teachers who will start this school year amounts to 1,500.
Local non-school days will be October 10, 2025, February 16, 2026, and March 20, 2026.
PERFORMANCES IN SCHOOLS
Ricardo Recuero announced that at the next plenary session, to be held on Tuesday, September 9, the delegation of powers under the Edificant Plan will be approved imminently for the comprehensive renovation of the Las Lagunas Secondary School, with an estimated investment of more than 9 million euros, to be funded by the Ministry of Education. Likewise, the delegation of powers for the renovation and refurbishment of the Virgen del Carmen Primary School is currently in the approval phase, and Primary School No. 16 will be operational in January 2026 in prefabricated classrooms.
PROJECTS AND PROGRAMS FOR THIS SCHOOL YEAR 2023/2024
Ricardo Recuero announced that this coming school year, the projects and programs implemented four years ago will continue. These include programs for the detection, prevention, and support of truancy and bullying, the goal of which is to reduce truancy rates in our town. This new school year, the Local Police SCHOOL PATROL will be launched, coordinated by the Education, Safety and Emergencies, and Health Departments of the Torrevieja City Council.
The SCHOOL AT SEA program will also continue, offering primary school students water sports classes at the city's maritime facilities. Likewise, in collaboration with Proyecto Mastral, the WEATHER AT SCHOOL program will continue, offering classes and activities on meteorology, astronomy, and sustainable development, and giving students the opportunity to observe stars, planets, and other objects at night.
The Councilor for Education also noted that, through the agreement with AGAMED, students will be able to participate for the fifth consecutive year in activities framed within the 2030 Agenda through management and sustainable development projects, as well as the TORREVIEJA, CITY OF GIRLS AND BOYS program, continuing the activities of the Children's Council and proposals to municipal management. In addition, the ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AWARDS will be awarded for another year, and a new REINVENTING EDUCATION CONGRESS will be held on March 7, 2026, at the Torrevieja International Auditorium, under the motto "Educating for Life." Finally, Recuero announced the creation of the MUNICIPAL FAMILY SCHOOL, which will educate families with talks, workshops, and more.
