The City Council awards the contract for drafting the project for the new Day Center for people with Alzheimer's.
The successful bidder obtained the highest score in the bidding process, out of a total of 13 projects submitted and out of the four selected in the final phase, making it the most advantageous offer for the municipality. The contract was awarded for €204,354.48 (VAT included), with a six-month deadline. The tender price for this contract was €299,749.67 (VAT included), but it was awarded at a 32% discount (€95,395.19). It is worth noting that the successful bidder's offer includes an 18-month extension of technical assistance for the service and an 18-month warranty period.
The deadline for submitting all documentation by the successful bidder is 10 days, and once this administrative procedure is completed, the contract will be definitively awarded. After that, there will be 15 days for possible appeals, so it is expected that the winning project for the new "Tomás Ballester Herrera" Day Center for people with Alzheimer's and other neurodegenerative diseases will be presented to the public during the first weeks of October.
This project represents a decisive step in addressing one of Torrevieja's main social needs, as it will provide the city with a specialized facility that will meet the complex and changing needs of patients while also providing vital support to family members and primary caregivers. This center will have modern, accessible facilities fully adapted to the needs of patients and their families, offering a safe, comfortable, and stimulating environment for patients.
The Councilor for NGOs and Volunteering, Trudy Páez, emphasized that "the awarding of this contract brings us closer to achieving our goal of having a first-class social and healthcare resource to care for our seniors and those suffering from Alzheimer's and other neurodegenerative diseases. Given the complexity and impact on individuals and their families, these centers have become an indispensable resource for caring for people with Alzheimer's. This is a firm commitment of the Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón."
The future center will be built in Sector 25 of the General Urban Development Plan (PGOU), with an approximate built area of 2,700 m² and a development plot of more than 7,900 m². The project will have an estimated construction budget of €5.5 million for the construction phase. Páez added that "with this step, we reaffirm the City Council's commitment to strengthening social policies, offering services that improve the quality of life of Torrevieja families, and continuing to make progress toward achieving our objectives, as outlined in our electoral manifesto."
