The renovation works of the La Plasa building have been awarded.
The Local Government Board of Torrevieja City Council (JGL) has awarded the contract for the Rehabilitation of the La Plasa building, subject to harmonized regulation, to the company COBRA INSTALACIONES Y SERVICIOS SAU, for an amount of 8,251,352 EUROS (VAT included), and with the following commitments declared in its offer:
-Reduction in the construction period to a maximum of 15 weeks compared to the initial 18 months of contract execution.
-Extension of the warranty period for the works to a total of 45 additional months (15 three-month modules), counting from the one-year warranty period required in the contract.
Construction work will begin in October.
The Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, has announced that work on this important project for the government team could begin next October, once the 15-day period following notification of its approval by the General Assembly (JGL) has elapsed, in order to comply with the deadline for submitting potential appeals.
The approach to this project involves a complete restructuring of the building's commercial and aesthetic aspects, including its accessibility and interior layout, along with an additional redesign of the adjacent streets and their use. The main objective of this project is to transform La Plasa into a dynamic element of the town center and all the local commerce in the area.
Torrevieja City Council intends for the new La Plasa building to be open to the urban space and, furthermore, for its market to meet the basic demand for fresh, quality, and local produce. Therefore, the ground floor will focus on the continuation of the current establishments that remain at the municipal market, and which are distinguished precisely for this: quality and local produce. This will be one part of La Plasa's offering, while another will focus on the gastronomic market and restaurants, with a total of 25 stalls.
Finally, regarding the second and third floors of the building, the decision has been made to leave them open-plan as multipurpose spaces for City Hall use, given that certain uses will be implemented in other spaces such as the Ice Factory or the Nuns building.
