This is a comprehensive service that guarantees the cleaning, maintenance and repair of the fixed wooden toilets and the new self-cleaning toilets installed throughout busy areas of the municipality.

Torrevieja City Council has awarded the contract to the Local Government Board for the cleaning and maintenance of restrooms on the beaches in the municipality for a total of €995,269 (VAT included) for a four-year term, not including a possible one-year extension.

This contract, awarded to the company EULEN CENTRO ESPECIAL DE EMPLEO SA for 248,817 euros per year, following the agreement of the Local Government Board dated July 18 not to award it to the company RECREATIVOS ACUÁTICOS HORADADA SL

The contract aims to provide a comprehensive service that guarantees the cleaning, maintenance and repair of the fixed wooden toilets and the new self-cleaning toilets installed along the beaches and coastal areas of the municipality (Plaza de Waldo Calero, Plaza Arturo Gómez - Paseo Juan Aparicio -, Paseo de Los Marineros next to the Tintero on Playa del Cura and the Plazas de Perfecta Rodríguez and Encarnación Puchol in La Mata).

The Councilor for Beaches, Antonio Vidal, emphasized that this contract improves the service currently being provided, as it increases the number of toilets to be maintained and cleaned, as well as their seasonality. They were currently in service during Easter and summer, and with the new contract, they will be in service year-round (365 days a year), from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Furthermore, the number of toilets on the beaches has increased from 9 to 22 across all units.

The new service includes masonry, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, and other corrective maintenance repairs, as well as an on-call service to address emergencies and situations that pose a risk to safety or health.

The Beaches Councilor stated that this new contract aims to move toward a more efficient and centralized management model, which will allow the City Council to respond quickly and effectively to any incident. " We want anyone who comes to enjoy our beaches to do so with full guarantees. This contract responds to the current reality of intensive use of the coastline and reinforces Torrevieja's image as a first-class tourist destination," concluded Antonio Vidal.
