Eduardo Dolón has stated that the execution of these works in the racket area of the Sports City fulfills the commitment made by the Government team to the citizens of Torrevieja.

Yesterday afternoon, Saturday, October 4th, the seven padel courts and two frontenis courts reopened to the public, along with new access control to the facilities and a new cafeteria at the Torrevieja Sports City.

The Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, the Councilor for Sports, Diana Box, the Deputy Mayor of the City Council, Rosario Martínez, the Director of Sports Facilities for the City Council, José Antonio Carmona, as well as numerous members of the public and padel tennis fans, attended this reopening, which has benefited from a municipal investment of €1,078,848 (VAT included), which, with the comprehensive renovation of the Nelson Mandela multi-purpose football pitch, has risen to €2,752,000. The Mayor highlighted the significant public investment made by the Torrevieja City Council in sports infrastructure over the last six years, amounting to more than €20 million, noting that the short-term plan is for the construction of a new 25 m2 heated swimming pool and the renovation of the Cecilio Gallego sports hall.

Eduardo Dolón stated that the completion of these works in the tennis courts area of the Sports City fulfills the commitment made by the Government team to the citizens of Torrevieja, especially with the launch of the seven fully renovated padel courts, as well as the rest of the rehabilitated infrastructure.

It's worth noting that the seven panoramic padel courts are adapted to the World Padel Tour (WPT) and comply with the regulations established by the Spanish Padel Federation. The central stands have been equipped with anchored plastic seats, as well as a fully accessible route for all users via a ramp, which connects the three areas located at different levels.

Likewise, the two frontenis courts at the Sports City have been repaired. The current lighting has been replaced with more energy-efficient ones, the perimeter mesh has been replaced, the sports surfaces of the repaired courts have been painted, and the current accesses have been replaced with larger ones to allow for the entry of machinery for maintenance work. In addition, the restrooms and changing rooms located next to the municipal gym have been completely renovated.

The current access control located on Avenida de Delfina Viudes has also been replaced with a larger one. This will reconfigure the circulation of access to the sports venue, allowing entry control to the facility on both sides of the current entrance and allowing for the installation of two staff workstations.

Finally, a cafeteria has been built on the esplanade between the gym and the paddle tennis courts, complementing the sports facilities. It also has a large outdoor terrace, providing a pleasant place for leisure and recreation for users and their families.
