CECOPAL meeting, which will remain open and operational all day

The Red Cross and Civil Protection have informed CECOPAL that a total of 23 homeless people (16 men and 7 women) were transferred last night to the "Tavi and Carmona" Sports Pavilion, where they are currently staying and are being cared for at all times by volunteers from Alimentos Solidarios.

This morning, Friday, October 10, at 8:30 a.m., a new meeting of the CECOPAL (Committee for the Promotion of the Environment) began in the Plenary Hall of Torrevieja City Hall. It was chaired by the mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón. The meeting will remain open and operational throughout the day.

The event took stock of what happened throughout the evening.

Proyecto Mastral has reported that rainfall has not been particularly heavy, with the highest levels recorded in the Los Balcones and La Mata areas. However, the heaviest rainfall is expected to begin around midday, with a possible total of 180 l/m2 in 12 hours or 60 l/m2 in one hour.

The local police have also emphasized that so far there have been no incidents due to flooding in any area of the Torrevieja municipality following this morning's rains.

The Red Cross and Civil Protection have informed CECOPAL that a total of 23 homeless people (16 men and 7 women) were transferred last night to the "Tavi y Carmona" Sports Pavilion, where they are currently being cared for around the clock by volunteers from the Local Association Alimentos Solidarios. Although the Red Cross and Civil Protection believe the needs in this regard have been met, the number of places in this temporary shelter has been increased to 40, leaving 17 more to be filled in anticipation.

Regarding the Fire Department, an additional crew has been added to Torrevieja for the entire day, with plans to respond to flood-prone areas and sea access areas during a possible torrential downpour. In addition, the Fire Consortium has reinforced the entire southern area of Alicante (Vega Baja, Elche, and Alicante) and has mobilized boats and vessels in case any point in the city center needs to be accessed by boat. Meanwhile, the concessionaire for the urban cleaning and beach services (ACCIONA) has heavy vehicles and cranes ready for any incidents involving façade collapse or vehicle towing, and these are at the full disposal of the Fire Department.

Finally, the Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, highlighted the responsible and good behavior of the citizens of Torrevieja, who are following the recommendations being issued so that together, this potential DANA has the least possible impact on our city and our residents. Eduardo Dolón also emphasized that all municipal services (parks and gardens, street and beach cleaning, public lighting, AGAMED, etc.) are on alert, awaiting further developments.
