TORREVIEJA VUELVE A LA NORMALIDAD TRAS EL PASO DE LA DANA ALICE
The mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, congratulated all members of CECOPAL for their great work and professionalism in addressing this climate emergency.

Following the passage of DANA Alice through Torrevieja and the subsidence of the storm, this morning at 8:00 a.m., the YELLOW WARNING level (low risk) has been changed to 8:00 p.m., although we could still see some more isolated storms of lesser intensity than yesterday.

Torrevieja City Council informs the public that urban transport has been fully restored and has been operating normally since early this morning.

URBAN CLEANING

Likewise, the garbage collection service has been operating at full capacity since last night, and the containers that were swept away by yesterday's heavy rains have already been rearranged. This morning, several teams are cleaning the most damaged areas in both the city center and residential areas. In addition, the beach cleaning service has been working to keep our beaches in perfect condition over the next few days.

PARKS AND GARDENS

The Department of Parks and Gardens has been reviewing all potentially affected areas. All of the city's parks and gardens are currently open and flooded areas have been marked, with the exception of Parque de las Naciones, which has also reopened, although its children's area, part of the stage, and the side walkway remain closed due to accumulated water.

Likewise, La Siesta Park is open to the public except for the pump track area, where water is being pumped out due to heavy accumulation.

ANIMAL SHELTER

The animal shelter is now fully operational, with the large amount of accumulated water having been removed and debris cleaned.

It's worth noting that all the animals at the shelter are in perfect condition, having been cared for by Civil Protection, Local Police, and AGAMED personnel.

PUBLIC LIGHTING

Regarding the power outages caused last night by the heavy torrential rain that fell in the afternoon, most of them were resolved by resetting the protection, leaving them on. However, some of them have faults that are being reviewed today. When they are back on this afternoon, the panels will continue to conduct inspections and restore service for any issues that are detected. In total, 32 incidents were detected yesterday, most notably the removal of a streetlight that fell on Lope de Vega Street due to the storm.

Temporary Shelter for the Homeless

For their part, Civil Protection, the Red Cross, and the local NGO Alimentos Solidarios have concluded their intervention in the facility created by Torrevieja City Council to house homeless people at the "Tavi y Carmona" Sports Palace. This facility has housed a total of 47 people, including 13 women (one of whom was 37 weeks pregnant and was treated and transferred to the hospital, subsequently returning to the shelter after undergoing appropriate testing) and 34 men. They have all been provided with hygiene kits, beds, blankets, and food prepared by Alimentos Solidarios volunteers. The assistance has been provided at all times under the supervision of Civil Protection and with the support and supervision of the Local Police and Civil Guard.

Torrevieja City Council is working with these homeless people to help them get off the streets and reintegrate into society through municipal social services.

GREAT WORK AND PROFESSIONALISM OF THE CECOPAL MEMBERS

Finally, the Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, congratulated the members of the CECOPAL (National Commission for the Protection of Persons with Disabilities), all the municipal service workers, and Civil Protection, the Local Police, the Red Cross, the Civil Guard, the urban transport company, the Torrevieja University Hospital, and Proyecto Mastral (Mastral Project), for the excellent work and dedication they have shown over the past few days to quickly resolve the damage caused by DANA Alice. The Mayor highlighted their outstanding professionalism and dedication to the city of Torrevieja.
