The "Ciudad de Torrevieja" Half Marathon breaks its participation record, with more than 2,000 participants.
This morning, the 2025 Torrevieja City International Half Marathon and 10K, which will be held this coming Sunday, October 19th, was presented at a press conference. This sporting event, now in its 38th year, is organized by the Torrevieja Athletics Club in collaboration with the Department of Sports and is consolidating its position as one of the most important races on the athletics calendar in the Valencian Community.
This year, the event will break its participation record, with more than 2,000 athletes registered to date, 40% of whom are international and the rest from all regions of our country. Incidentally, 80 participants are over 65 years of age.
The Councilor for Sports, Diana Box, along with the director and organizer of the event, Luis Manuel Corchete, and the president of the Torrevieja Athletics Club, José Manuel Pizana, presented this event, which features two events: the 21-kilometer Half Marathon and the 10K Race, both starting at 9:30 a.m. from Avenida Gregorio Marañón and finishing on Calle Los Portalicos, in the heart of the city. Both events are included in the international calendar of the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation. Registration can be completed through the website mediomaratontorrevieja.com.
The Councilor for Sports announced several new features for this new edition, such as the change in route due to construction work on Paseo de La Libertad; the change in date, which will be moved from February to October due to the overcrowding of half marathons in February in cities near Torrevieja; and the start and finish of the race, which this year will be on Avenida de Gregorio Marañón (in front of the CEPSA service station).
Participation is open to those aged 18 and over for the Half Marathon and 16 and over for the 10K, covering categories from Under-20 to Masters for the Half Marathon and Under-18 to Masters for the 10K. In addition, disabled categories will participate in both distances.
The completely flat course, with sea views, offers a fast and engaging circuit, ideal for both athletes looking for a better performance and those simply looking for a unique sporting experience in Torrevieja.
Race number collection will take place on Saturday, October 18, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at the Museo de la Habanera (Parque de la Estación) and on Sunday, October 19, from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM. In-person registration will also be available on Saturday for late runners.
The race will feature a large team of more than 200 volunteers, as well as security, traffic, and medical assistance services, ensuring the smooth running of the event.
There will be prizes for the top three finishers (male and female) and for the runner who breaks the race record. The awards ceremony is scheduled for 11:15 a.m. for the 10K and 12:15 p.m. for the half marathon.
The Torrevieja International Half Marathon and 10K is not only a sporting event, but also an opportunity to promote tourism, commerce, and healthy lifestyle habits, demonstrating once again that Torrevieja is an open, dynamic city committed to sport.
