The 2025 tender for asphalt paving and pedestrian route improvement and accessibility works is now open, with an investment of €6,368,670.
The Local Government Board (LGB) of Torrevieja City Council will approve the tender for the 2025 paving and pedestrian route improvement and accessibility works tomorrow, Friday, October 17. The municipal investment for the two lots put out to tender is €6,368,670.
- LOT 1: 3,259,150.47 euros
- LOT 2: 3,109,520.03 euros
The Councilor for Infrastructure, Works, Services, and Accessibility, Sandra Sánchez, reported that the purpose of these works is to replace the road surface on several streets in the municipality of Torrevieja, as well as to improve accessibility in some specific sections by widening sidewalks and lowering them at intersections. The project also includes replacing vertical signage throughout the project, following the recommendations provided by the Local Police.
The works have been divided into 2 lots:
- LOT 1: South Zone of the Municipality
- LOT 2: Northern Zone of the Municipality
In LOT 1 (Southern Zone of the Municipality) , the works will consist of milling the existing road surface, compacting the esplanade where necessary, applying road adhesion or primer, resurfacing, and installing horizontal traffic signage. The works will also include maintaining the existing water supply, sewage, lighting, telephone, electricity, and gas infrastructure. The work includes the removal of existing speed bumps.
The area to be worked on in these LOT 1 projects amounts to 114,856 m2, covering more than 40 streets and avenues in the city.
Sandra Sánchez emphasized that among the improvements offered by companies submitting bids, an increase in the surface area to be resurfaced will be valued more than a reduction in the price of the contract they submit.
Accessibility improvements and pedestrian routes within LOT 1 are divided into two subchapters:
-In the Mar Azul development, specific actions are planned at various intersections to improve accessibility and certain pedestrian routes, as well as the replacement of all vertical traffic signs that affect the actions described above.
-In the Acequión neighborhood, from Pinoso Avenue to Portalicos between Urbano Arregui and Gregorio Marañón, specific actions are planned at various intersections to improve accessibility, improve certain pedestrian routes, and replace all vertical traffic signs that affect the actions described above.
In LOT 2 (Northern Zone of the Municipality) , the works will consist of milling the existing road surface, compacting the esplanade where necessary, applying road adhesion or primer, resurfacing, and installing horizontal traffic signage. The works will also include maintaining the existing water supply, sewage, lighting, telephone, electricity, and gas infrastructure. This includes the removal of existing speed bumps.
The area to be worked on in these LOT 2 projects amounts to 108,910 m2, covering more than 50 streets and avenues in the city.
The accessibility and pedestrian route improvements in Lot 2 focus on work around Pedro Lorca Street, the Acequión and Inmaculada Primary Schools, and Áncora Street, which also includes the complete restoration of public lighting services.
