Teams from around the world arrive in Torrevieja for the largest international walking football tournament.

The eagerly awaited Walking Football World Nations Cup kicks off in Torrevieja tomorrow, Tuesday, October 21, marking the start of an exciting week of international competition. The first phase of the tournament will focus on three categories: Women's Over 40, Men's Over 70, and Men's Over 50, with matches running until Friday, October 24, the day of the finals.

The event, which will be held at the Torrevieja Sports City, brings together teams from around the world to compete in an atmosphere of friendship, sport, and football, within the inclusive and increasingly popular format of walking football.

FEMALE OVER 40

The women's over-40 competition begins with a group stage, which promises to be a challenging series of matches. The tournament will open with a match between Japan and the hosts, Spain, setting the tone for an exciting week. Other notable matches in the first round include the eagerly awaited England vs. Australia and the exciting France vs. Czech Republic. Wales will debut in the second round of matches. The top four teams from this stage will advance to the semifinals.

MALE OVER 70

The men's over-70 category has been divided into two groups of four teams. In Group A, England faces the Netherlands, while Japan plays Italy. In Group B, Canada will face France, and Australia will play the Basque Country. After the group stage, the teams will advance to the quarterfinals, where the positions will determine the pairings for the semifinals.

MALE OVER 50

The most competitive category of the week, the Men's Over 50 category, features 18 nations divided into three groups. The top seeds are England (world No. 1), the Czech Republic (world No. 2), and Spain, the host nation.

Group A: England, Australia, Basque Country, Singapore, Italy, Scotland

Group B: Czech Republic, Canada, Jersey, Cyprus, Morocco, Japan

Group C: Spain, Rwanda, France, Wales, Nigeria, Portugal

The top two teams in each group, along with the two best third-place finishers, will advance to the quarterfinals.

As this first week progresses, excitement grows both locally and internationally, with Torrevieja once again establishing itself as a proud center of global walking football. The second week of the tournament will begin on Tuesday, October 28.
