Agamed's Board of Directors presents its 2024 Sustainable Development Report.
The AGAMED Board of Directors, chaired by the Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, held a meeting yesterday, Tuesday, October 21, to present the Sustainable Development Report for 2024, a document that reflects the joint venture's firm commitment to environmental, social, and economic sustainability in its area of operation.
The report highlights significant achievements in key areas such as water management efficiency, with a hydraulic efficiency of 89.35%, the transformation of water infrastructure into green infrastructure, and corporate social responsibility initiatives.
AGAMED's deputy manager, Gemma Cruz, highlighted the lamination pond built in the Torrealmendros area as an innovative example of sustainable development, which combines flood management due to torrential rains with recreational spaces for the community.
It's worth noting that a special section of the report was dedicated to AGAMED's solidarity response to the DANA (Basic Flood) that affected Valencia in 2024. The company, with the support of Torrevieja City Council, collaborated by providing human and material resources for emergency response efforts.
AGAMED's social commitment is also reflected in its Social Fund, which in 2024 allocated €308,092 to help 846 families in situations of economic vulnerability. Gemma Cruz highlighted that over the last five years, a total of €1,433,565 has been invested in this initiative, which has benefited 3,559 contracts. Furthermore, the program has been adapted to meet needs at specific times, as was the case in 2021, when new beneficiary profiles were established among residents, merchants, and businesses affected by the COVID-19 crisis.
The deputy manager stated that "this report not only shows our results, but also reaffirms AGAMED's commitment to a more sustainable future for Torrevieja. We are proud of the progress we have made and continue working to improve our performance in all aspects of sustainability."
