The mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, together with a large part of the councilors of the Government team, the salt court and the family of María Jesús Viuda Albacete, has inaugurated this morning the “María Jesús Viuda” Pavilion located next to the Cecilio Gallego sports pavilion.

In a simple yet moving ceremony, Eduardo Dolón paid tribute to the young woman from Torrevieja who passed away in 2022 and was a member of the extended family at the Torrevieja City Council's Department of Sports. Following the inauguration of this new facility at the Sports Complex, the large crowd in attendance was able to tour the premises and witness the activities taking place in the pavilion this morning. Young people from the municipal schools of Judo and Rhythmic Gymnastics, as well as individuals participating in guided activities and practicing climbing on the climbing wall installed there, were among the first to use this new multi-sports pavilion this morning.

The mayor of Torrevieja has expressed his satisfaction at finally being able to open this pavilion, as it is a very important facility for training in various sports, some of them new. This new space has the capacity to host rhythmic gymnastics training (with four rhythmic gymnastics mats), climbing, martial arts, group fitness classes, and a psychomotor skills room for young children, in addition to restrooms, changing rooms, and security cameras in strategic areas of the building and the Cecilio Gallego Pavilion. Regarding the domestic hot water system, it is supplied by electric water heaters as required by regulations.

This new multi-sports pavilion has involved an investment of almost 1,400,000 euros (VAT included), having been executed by the joint venture González Soto SA – Montajes Eléctricos Llamas SL
