The request for delegation of powers for the construction of the new CEIP Maestro Lafuente (formerly CEIP Number 14) has been approved in plenary session.
At its plenary session today, Torrevieja City Council approved the request for delegation of powers to carry out the construction of what will be the new Maestro Lafuente Primary School (formerly Primary School Number 14).
The Torrevieja City Councilor for Education, Ricardo Recuero, reported that this step represents a decisive advance in providing the city with a new, modern, accessible, and innovative educational center, which will respond to the population growth and current educational needs of the municipality.
The request submitted to the Plenary Session has the unanimous support of the Municipal School Council and the school's School Council, which previously endorsed this initiative as a priority for improving Torrevieja's educational network.
The future Maestro Lafuente Preschool and Primary School, which will be located in the Villa Amalia area, will be a three-level public school with a cafeteria, gymnasium, multipurpose spaces, and all the necessary infrastructure to serve the educational community with the highest quality standards.
The school will be named after Maestro Ricardo Lafuente Aguado, a distinguished figure in the city and a leading figure in the Habanera music scene, whose work is part of Torrevieja's cultural identity and history.
The project's financial report, which will be approved by the Local Government Board (LGB), provides for a total investment of 13,807,397 euros.
With this agreement, Torrevieja continues to make progress in improving and modernizing its educational facilities, reaffirming its commitment to excellent public education.
