The extension of the deadline for the remodeling of the Levante Dock was approved by the JGL.

The Local Governing Board of the Torrevieja City Council approved this morning an extension to the deadline for the completion of the Levante Breakwater renovation works. The extension was granted because the city council's technical services detected superficial deterioration in the protective railings along the sides. Following this discovery, the construction management team instructed the contractor to halt assembly work until the situation could be clarified. Laboratory tests were immediately conducted to examine the condition of the supplied materials.

Fortunately, the report issued by the project management rules out any defects in the materials supplied, stating that the stainless steel more than meets the technical specifications required for a marine environment and that work can resume, although the installed steel must be given a surface treatment since the damage is superficial, not caused by a manufacturing defect, but by bacteria present in its environment.

Therefore, this 146-day extension of the execution period means that the renovation works on the Levante Dock will be fully completed by the end of March 2026. Sandra Sánchez has reported that partial handovers of the completed sections will take place before that date.
