The contracts for the rehabilitation of the former Purísima nursery school and the Francisco Vallejos Choir building have been awarded.
The Councillor for Contracting and Promotion of Employment, Entrepreneurship and Local Development of the Torrevieja City Council, Domingo Paredes, has announced the awarding of the rehabilitation works of the old La Purísima nursery school, which will be destined for the strategic socio-economic projection of Torrevieja.
The contract has been awarded to Tecnología de la Construcción y Obras Públicas SA for a total of €3,223,331.98 (VAT included), after receiving the best technical and economic evaluation among the seven bids submitted in the open tender process. Construction work could begin in the first half of December.
As the councilor explained, the works have a reduced execution period of 15 calendar weeks from the 18 months initially planned and with an extension of the warranty period of 45 months, which reinforces the technical reliability and quality of the action.
“This project symbolizes the transformation of the urban heart of Torrevieja and the City Council’s commitment to recovering emblematic spaces to put them at the service of the city’s economic, social and cultural development,” said Domingo Paredes.
The project envisions the comprehensive renovation of both buildings, which will be connected by a common courtyard, creating a functional and modern complex that will serve as a center for innovation, entrepreneurship and economic revitalization, with spaces adapted for business collaboration, training and creativity.
Domingo Paredes has emphasized that the intervention is part of the strategy to modernize the municipal heritage promoted by the government team, and that it is being implemented through multiple actions included in the 2025 budget.
“We are restoring heritage, generating employment, and creating new opportunities for the people of Torrevieja. The rehabilitation of the former “La Purísima” residence will be a meeting point between tradition and the productive future of Torrevieja,” he added.
The work will begin in the first half of December, once the contract formalization process is completed and the final guarantee has been submitted by the winning company.
CENTER FOR TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION, ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
The councilor also announced that work is already underway on the tender for the service that will be developed in this new space, called iHub Torretech, which is in its final processing stage and will be put out to tender in the coming weeks.
The iHub Torretech will be a center for technological innovation, entrepreneurship, and business development, focused on fostering local talent and the creation of new companies. The project will be structured around two main lines of action: a Technical Office, responsible for the planning, management, and promotion of the hub, and a Talent Accelerator, which will promote training, mentoring, and the incubation of startups and innovative projects.
“The iHub Torretech will position Torrevieja as a benchmark for innovation and entrepreneurship in the south of the province. It is a tool that will connect young people, entrepreneurs, and companies with the technological and business opportunities that our city can offer,” Paredes emphasized.
