Torrevieja is preparing to experience Patron Saint Festivities full of emotion, tradition and family atmosphere in honor of the Immaculate Conception
The Councillor for Festivals of the Torrevieja City Council, Rosario Martínez Chazarra, presents the program of the Patron Saint Festivals in Honor of La Purísima, which will be celebrated from November 14th to December 9th of this year 2025.
The Councillor for Festivals described the festivities as "very varied," with events for all ages and a special focus on children and their families. The religious events begin this Friday, November 14th, with the presentation of the "Mater Inmaculada" yearbook; while the official celebrations begin on Saturday, November 15th, with the Coronation Gala of the Queen and Ladies of the Salt 2025-2026, at the Municipal Theatre, starting at 7:30 p.m. The festivities will continue until December 9th. Rosario Martínez expressed her gratitude for the effort and dedication of everyone making the Patron Saint Festivities possible, including the team from the Department of Festivals, the other participating departments, the Royal Association of the Sons of the Immaculate Conception, and the parish.
On November 22nd, the highly anticipated Christmas and Patron Saint Festival Lighting Ceremony will take place once again on the stage in Plaza de la Constitución, starting at 6:00 PM. There will be music, DJs, and a concert by “Siempre Disco” starting at 10:00 PM. On Sunday, November 23rd, at 4:30 PM, the Grand Children's Parade will be held to entertain the little ones.
From November 27th to 30th, the Torrevieja Municipal Theatre will host the super production of Mamma Mia! The Musical. Tickets are now on sale at www.vivaticket.es . On Friday, November 28th, the concert by La La Love You and Sidonie will take place at the Tavi y Carmona Sports Palace, starting at 8:00 PM. Regarding the traditional events of these eagerly awaited festivities in honor of La Purísima, it is worth highlighting the first appearance of the “Charamita” with Lily and her troupe of giants and big-headed figures, accompanied by the dulzaina (a type of oboe) and drum, which will take place on Saturday, November 29th, at 12:00 noon, starting from the Plaza de la Constitución. In total, the “Charamita” will make 13 appearances, including the Nighttime Appearance on Saturday, November 29th, at 10:30 p.m., and the “Late-Night Appearance” on Friday, December 5th, at 9:30 p.m. The “Inclusive Charamita,” for children and young people with disabilities, will take place on Tuesday, December 3rd, in the Plaza de la Constitución, at 5:00 p.m.
The "Charamita" event, organized by the Department of Functional Diversity in collaboration with the ALPE and APANEE associations, will feature Lily and her troupe of Giants and Big-Headed Figures, performing a show for people with disabilities.
The Floral Offering to the Immaculate Conception will take place on Saturday, November 29th, starting in the Plaza de Oriente and surrounding area of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish Church, preceded by the traditional entrance of marching bands. The Councilor for Festivals has called upon all local associations and groups of all kinds to participate in this large-scale display of Torrevieja's community. Also on this day, the Municipal Nativity Scene will be inaugurated in the large tent, featuring new figures and a special design with various allegories to Torrevieja's past. This initiative aims to expand the city's tourism offerings during this festive and popular time of year.
On Sunday, November 30th, the traditional "Diversequión" will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Acequión neighborhood (Avenida de la Estación). At 10:00 a.m., the "Bisiquión" will be held, and at 12:00 p.m., the youngest attendees can enjoy the children's show "Play with Drino." At 11:00 a.m., the fun "Grand Prix" will take place on Paseo Vista Alegre. On December 5th, the stage in La Plaza will host a performance by "Puño Dragón" starting at 10:30 p.m.
On Saturday, December 7th, the monumental Mascletà will take place at 2:00 PM in the Plaza de la Constitución, followed by the traditional "Tardeo Calles Patronales" (afternoon gathering in the town's main streets). At 9:00 PM, the 54th Diego Ramírez Pastos Award will be presented at the Torrevieja International Auditorium to the Rotary Club of Torrevieja and Francisco Sala Aniorte, the official chronicler.
On Friday, December 6th, the 33rd Paella Competition will take place in Antonio Soria Park, featuring performances by DJs Charri with Alcafly and Luis López, and the band “La Hornet.” Martínez Chazarra highlighted the highly anticipated Paella Competition in Antonio Soria Park. Following last year's successful organization, the councilwoman emphasized the strong collaboration of all participants and announced that a very similar system has been designed for this year's event. She indicated that more than 500 plots will be available, as in the previous edition. Registration, which can be done online or in person at the PROP office, will open on Friday, November 14th.
On Sunday, December 8th, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, the day will begin with the traditional Diana, a morning procession departing from the Town Hall at 7:00 a.m. and winding through various streets of the city. At 12:00 p.m., the Solemn Celebration of the Eucharist will take place in the Archpriest Church of the Immaculate Conception. Following the Mass, the Solemn and Grand Procession of the Immaculate Conception will commence at 6:30 p.m. The always eagerly anticipated fireworks display will be launched during the procession of the patron saint through the city streets.
The Councillor for Festivals wanted to highlight the work behind this program, a collaboration between the different councillors and entities and associations, and hopes that it will be a success as it has been in recent years.
