Awarded the contract for drafting the project for the construction of a heated swimming pool at the Torrevieja Sports City
The Local Governing Board of the Torrevieja City Council has approved this morning the drafting of the project for the construction of a heated swimming pool in the Sports City, which will be located behind the "Tavi y Carmona" Sports Palace and opposite the Cecilio Gallego Pavilion.
The project has been awarded to Francisco Miguel Juárez Pozuelo, for an amount of 59,154.48 euros (VAT included), with the following commitments declared in his offer:
- Preliminary draft.
- Extension of the warranty period beyond the minimum of 18 months.
- Increase in the technical assistance period of the service to 18 months.
The duration of this contract will be for a period of six months, with the service guarantee period being one year from the date of approval of the complete project, extended by 18 more months according to improvements offered.
A HEATED SWIMMING POOL 25 METERS LONG BY 12.50 METERS WIDE
The Councillor for Sports, Diana Box Alonso, has announced that this second heated swimming pool will have a basin measuring 25 meters long by 12.50 meters wide, and can be used as a warm-up pool and for aquatic activities. It will be located in the Sports Complex, in the area behind the existing Olympic-size swimming pool and parking lot.
The total surface area of the building that will house the heated swimming pool will be more than 1,600 m2 and will also include: reception; stands, changing rooms for women, men and mixed, as well as a basement.
IMPROVEMENT OF THE SPORTS COMPLEX ENVIRONMENT
With the aim of achieving complete integration with the existing spaces and facilities, the exterior space will be reorganized, incorporating new green areas and gardens. This action not only improves the overall functionality of the complex but also contributes to the enhancement of the immediate surroundings and a more harmonious and well-maintained visual perception of the sports complex.
The main entrance to the new building is located on its east facade, where the proposed parking area is situated. Part of this parking area is retained from the existing one, while another part has been reconfigured to accommodate the new layout. A bicycle parking area has also been included, following current recommendations and regulations. The building entrance is elevated above sidewalk level, so access is provided by a combination of steps and a gently sloping surface.
Once inside, the user accesses a spacious lobby that integrates a reception area with a counter, a waiting area, an interior window that allows a direct visual connection with the pool basin, and access to the stands arranged for spectators
The changing room area has been organized into three separate units, intended for female, male and mixed/family use, the latter designed for use by companions of both sexes, who accompany and help minors of different sexes, guaranteeing maximum flexibility and suitability to different user profiles.
Each changing room is equipped with a changing area furnished with benches and coat racks; a locker area for storing belongings; a shower area; and a restroom area with toilets/urinals, sinks with mirrors, and all necessary fixtures. Each changing room provides direct access to the pool area via a barefoot walkway, adhering to hygiene recommendations and preventing the use of street shoes in the pool area. In this way, the changing rooms act as a functional transition, ensuring proper separation between dry and wet areas.
Within the pool complex are the pool basin and benches for users. From its eastern side, the proposed spectator seating is visible. The ceiling height exceeds 4 meters throughout its usable area. At one end, a walkway provides direct access to the existing indoor pool at the "Tavi y Carmona" Sports Palace, thus consolidating the complex's overall functionality. The space benefits from natural light and ventilation through three of its facades.
The design incorporates systems that optimize thermal performance while reducing energy consumption. To centralize and streamline the complex's technical operations, the boiler room currently serving the existing swimming pool will be shared. This will be achieved by creating access to the boiler room from the new building and connecting both buildings underground, facilitating maintenance and enabling joint equipment management.
