Torrevieja will host the FEDDI Futsal World Championship for the first time

The "Tavi y Carmona" Sports Palace will host the World Championship from November 29 to December 8, with the participation of six countries and more than 90 members including athletes and coaches.

The Sports Councillor of Torrevieja City Council, Diana Box, together with the executive director of the Spanish Federation of Sports for People with Intellectual Disabilities (FEDDI), Celia Garrote, presented this morning the FEDDI World Futsal Championship, which will be held in Torrevieja from November 29 to December 8.

This is an international event of great sporting and social relevance, as it is the first time that this FEDDI Futsal World Cup has been held in Spain, and it also marks the return of a world championship of this federation to our country after 17 years, since 2008.

Six countries will compete in Torrevieja for the World Championship: Poland, Portugal, France, Japan, Spain and a Neutral Team.

A total of 92 members will participate, including 66 athletes and 26 coaches, who will compete at the facilities of the "Tavi y Carmona" Sports Palace, where the matches will be played on December 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7.

Ceremonies at the Torrevieja Casino

The opening and closing ceremonies will take place at the Torrevieja Casino, an iconic venue in the town. Following the official opening, the participating teams will parade through the city streets, giving residents and visitors the chance to enjoy the festive and sporting atmosphere of this international event.

With the celebration of this championship, Torrevieja reaffirms its commitment to inclusive sport and to the promotion of international events that position the city as a benchmark in the organization of top-level sporting competitions.
