The Local Governing Board of the Torrevieja City Council has approved this morning the city's joining the Gastrotourism Network of the Valencian Community and its brand of excellence "L'Exquisit Mediterrani", an initiative promoted by Turisme Comunitat Valenciana whose main objective is to promote and consolidate gastronomy as a first-rate tourist resource and an excellent tourist product throughout the Community.

With this membership, the City Council reinforces its commitment to the promotion and conservation of local gastronomy, linked to the landscape, culture and economy of Torrevieja, integrating itself into a collaborative governance structure that will allow the coordination of actions, the connection of initiatives and the enhancement of Mediterranean gastronomic identity through parameters of authenticity, innovation and sustainability.

Likewise, the “Expression of Interest” to actively participate in the development of the Network and in the dissemination of the “L'Exquisit Mediterrani” brand was approved, thus contributing to strengthening territorial cohesion and enhancing the image of excellence of the gastronomic tourism product in the city.

Among the lines of work that will be developed in coordination with Turisme CV, the following stand out:

-Participation in forums and joint strategies with public and private agents in the sector.

-The implementation of good practices in gastronomic tourism.

-The exchange of information and results of gastronomic promotion.

-The defense and enhancement of the local gastronomic product through the brand “L'Exquisit Mediterrani” and the tourism brand “Comunitat Valenciana”.

This membership does not entail any additional financial obligations for the City Council, beyond those that may be established through agreements, aid or specific cooperation programs in the future.

With this step, Torrevieja gives a new boost to its tourist positioning, reinforcing the diversification of the local offer and strengthening a strategic sector for the economy and promotion of the city.
