Last Friday, November 21st, the Torrevieja City Council, in an extraordinary and urgent meeting of the Local Governing Board, awarded the contract for transporting the Municipal Sports Schools teams to competitions outside the city to the company AVANZA. The contract will last for four years, renewable for one more year (maximum five years), for a total amount of €469,302.68 (VAT included).

The Councillor for Sports, Diana Box Alonso, has stated that “this contract maintains and improves the transport service for the different teams of the Municipal Sports Schools, guaranteeing the continuity of a sports model, fulfilling the commitment of this city council to local sport.”

The sports school management model provides students with transportation to competitions outside the city, free use of facilities, a sports instructor, and sports accident insurance with coverage at Quirón Hospital. This model's main objective is to facilitate sports participation, promote healthy habits among young people, and, above all, instill the values associated with sports throughout their development.

Finally, it is worth noting that this transportation service reduces the number of private vehicles on the road on competition days that would occur if athletes' families had to use their own vehicles. Furthermore, it guarantees these athletes' participation in competitions for their respective categories, thus ensuring that their attendance does not depend on their families' work schedules or other commitments.
