Agamed and the Torrevieja City Council present the results of the second edition of the Ola Program for job placement
The plenary hall of the Torrevieja City Council hosted today the presentation of the results of the second edition of the OLA Program, an initiative that has continued its journey in recent months, promoted by Aguas del Mediterráneo (Agamed), together with the Red Cross and the City Council itself.
The presentation of the results was attended by the mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón; the councilor for Social Welfare, Oscar Urtasun; the manager of Agamed and his deputy manager, Jorge Ballesta and Gemma Cruz; the director of Sustainable Development and Equity of Hidraqua, Amelia Navarro; as well as the representatives of the Red Cross, the president Francisco Javier García, and the technical director, Lara García.
During her speech, Amelia Navarro stated that “within the framework of the Social Action pillar of our Strategic Plan, we promote, in partnership with other organizations, high-impact, measurable programs that contribute to social transformation. In this case, the OLA program is aimed at users of the AGAMED Social Fund, with the goal that, through training and employment, they will no longer need this type of assistance.” Specifically, the OLA program, whose acronym stands for “Occupation,” “Leadership,” and “Support,” was launched in Torrevieja in 2023. This second edition, which ran throughout 2025, included the participation of 20 beneficiaries of the AGAMED Social Fund. The average participant is a Spanish woman between 31 and 66 years old.
According to Jorge Ballesta, “the impactful results continue to validate the improvement in the personal and professional situations of the participants in this second edition, through comprehensive and personalized support. This undoubtedly encourages our commitment to continuing this joint initiative in future editions.” Specifically, of the total project budget, 47% was allocated to programs for activating and improving employability, and 53% to covering basic needs, especially housing, energy, food, and other necessities.
The mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, stated that “ in just two editions, the OLA Program has established itself as an essential tool for improving the lives of many families in Torrevieja. The collaboration between the City Council, AGAMED, and the Red Cross demonstrates that when public administrations and social organizations join forces, we are able to create real opportunities for those who need them most.”
Eduardo Dolón expressed his gratitude for the commitment of the 20 participants, an example of perseverance and resilience, assuring them that “the Torrevieja City Council will continue to support programs like OLA, which promote employability, inclusion, and equal opportunities. Our commitment is unwavering: no one in Torrevieja should be left behind.”
