The Parks and Gardens Department of Torrevieja City Council is currently decorating several emblematic locations throughout the city with flowers in celebration of the Patron Saint Festivities and the arrival of Christmas, thus enhancing the festive atmosphere so characteristic of this time of year. Two traditional species for this season are being planted: the poinsettia, known as the Christmas flower, and the cyclamen, both selected for their striking ornamental value, resilience, and ability to bring color and life to the urban environment throughout the winter.

The poinsettia (Euphorbia pulcherrima), native to Mexico, is distinguished by its vibrant red bracts, a classic symbol of Christmas. Its presence is common in cities around the world due to its elegance and strong association with the holiday season. On the other hand, the cyclamen (Cyclamen persicum) offers a range of colors from red to white or fuchsia, providing contrast and brightness, in addition to being a hardy plant with a long flowering period.

These species are being distributed in representative places in Torrevieja, such as: Calle Concepción, Plaza Miguel Hernández, Paseo Vista Alegre, Plaza Encarnación Puchol in La Mata, Calle Campoamor, Rotondas de la Avenida Cortes Valencianas and Caballero de Rodas.

With this initiative, Torrevieja presents a new look to accompany residents and visitors for the coming weeks. The Parks and Gardens Department emphasizes that this beautification effort aims to reinforce the festive spirit of these days, creating more welcoming, well-maintained, and pleasant spaces for everyone to enjoy.
