The Habanera "Eres mar", by composer and director Luis Anibal Cano Pettersen, wins the Manuel Parada 2025 composition competition

The Councillor for Culture and Vice-President of the Municipal Board of Habaneras and Polyphony of Torrevieja, Antonio Quesada, reports that after deliberation and study of the 6 works submitted to the “Manuel Parada” 2025 Habanera Composition Competition, an award that aims to promote composition in the habanera genre and is endowed with 1000 euros, the judging panel decided to award the prize to the work entitled “Eres mar” and, after the opening of the envelopes, the winner was the Paraguayan composer based in Torrevieja, Luis Aníbal Cano Pettersen, also known for his work as a choir director and professor at the Cehegín Conservatory (Murcia), as well as a member of the Torrevieja group Sette Voci.

Aníbal Cano obtained the Professional Degree in Piano with Professor Sabina Martínez Boj at the Francisco Casanovas Professional Conservatory in Torrevieja, and the Degree in Orchestra Conductor at the Manuel Massotti Littel Higher Conservatory in Murcia, with Maestro José Miguel Rodilla.

The award ceremony and public recognition will take place soon during one of the events organized by the Municipal Board of Habaneras during the year 2026.
