This municipal action will allow for the improvement and modernization of local sports facilities, which are heavily used by young people, families, and sports groups.

The Torrevieja City Council continues to advance in its policy of improving and modernizing municipal infrastructure with the urgent approval of the file for the repair, adaptation and improvement of the energy efficiency of various outdoor multi-sports courts in the municipality, an action that will involve a total investment of 784,188 euros (VAT included), with the estimated execution period of the works being four months.

The initiative will be processed through a simplified open procedure and with advance processing of the expenditure, which will allow for streamlining administrative deadlines and carrying out the works in the shortest possible time, thus responding to a repeated demand from residents, sports clubs and regular users of these facilities.

The works include the complete renovation of the basketball hoops and vandal-proof goalposts, new lighting and LED projectors specifically for sports use, new foundations, concrete walls and perimeter fencing, upper protection nets, non-slip sports paint, etc.

Performances in different neighborhoods of the city

The works will be carried out in three strategic locations in the municipality, reinforcing the improvement of public services in different neighborhoods of Torrevieja:

La Mata Multi-Sports Court, located in Plaza Perfecta Rodríguez.

Cabo Cervera Multi-Sports Court .

Sports courts of Los Balcones , in the Plaza Reina de la Sal.

These facilities experience a high level of daily use, both for informal sports practice and for organized activities, so the work will improve the safety, functionality and sustainability of the courts, adapting them to the current needs of the citizens.

In the case of the San Roque multi-sports court, the City Council has decided not to include it in this file, as its renovation will be addressed through a specific project integrated into the Integrated Action Plan (PAI). This plan forms part of a Comprehensive Local Development Strategy, aligned with the challenges of the Urban Agenda, and may be financed through ERDF funds corresponding to the 2021-2027 period.

Budget and contracting procedure

The base budget for the tender amounts to €784,188.03 (VAT included). The budget is distributed among the different facilities as follows:

La Mata Multi-Sports Court: 143,302.14 euros.

Cabo Cervera Multi-Sports Court: 294,222.32 euros.

Sports courts of Los Balcones: 107,088.38 euros.

The estimated completion time for the works will be four months, starting from the signing of the Site Survey Act, without the possibility of extension, with the aim of making the facilities available to residents again as soon as possible.

Likewise, the contract includes a warranty period of twelve months, starting from the signing of the Acceptance Certificate, during which the winning company must respond to any incident that may arise from the execution of the work.

The Councillor for Sports, Diana Box Alonso, emphasized that “sports and the upkeep of public spaces are a priority for this City Council, as they directly contribute to health, well-being, and community life.” In this regard, she highlighted that this project will improve and modernize local sports facilities, which are heavily used by young people, families, and sports groups.

With this project, the Torrevieja City Council reaffirms its commitment to a more accessible, sustainable and cohesive city, promoting investments that improve the quality of life of citizens and reinforce the role of sport as a tool for social integration and revitalization of neighborhoods.
