EL CARNAVAL DE TORREVIEJA SE LUCE EN EL CENTRO DE MADRID
This is the second time that the Torrevieja Carnival has paraded alone through the center of the Spanish capital, following an emblematic route from Plaza de Callao, Calle Preciados, Puerta del Sol, Arenal and Plaza de Isabel II

The Torrevieja Carnival took over one of Madrid's main and busiest tourist thoroughfares this Saturday to showcase the unique character, vibrant colors, and extraordinary beauty of the Torrevieja Carnival to the world. This promotional event is part of the Torrevieja City Council's tourism strategy for the International Tourism Fair (FITUR), reinforcing the city's image as a high-quality cultural, festive destination year-round.

The parade, a historic event, featured over 150 participants from various local carnival groups, becoming a vibrant explosion of rhythm, fantasy, and joy that captivated both Madrid residents and national and international visitors. This marks the second time the Torrevieja Carnival has paraded solo through the heart of Spain's capital, following an iconic route from Plaza de Callao, along Calle Preciados, through Puerta del Sol, along the Arenal, and ending at Plaza de Isabel II.

The carnival groups Osadía, Daimana, Soul Dance, Jolgorio, No ni ná, Desafío, Mar de Plata, Paya's, and La Sal de Torrevieja—the latter being the most internationally renowned and emblematic group of the Torrevieja Carnival—were the stars of the day, along with the 2025 Carnival Queen, the Children's Queen, and the Carnival King. They filled the central Preciados Street with music, choreography, and vibrant costumes, under the watchful eyes of hundreds of people who didn't hesitate to capture this unique event for the promotion of the city of Torrevieja on their mobile phones.

The parade was attended by the mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, accompanied by the councilor for Tourism, Festivals and deputy mayor, Rosario Martínez, as well as by members of the Torrevieja Carnival Cultural Association, headed by its president, Francisco Pizana, thus showing the institutional and associative support for one of the most important festivals in the municipality.

The mayor emphasized that “Today Torrevieja has once again shone brightly in the heart of Madrid, bringing our carnival, our joy, and our identity to one of Europe’s most important capitals.” Dolón also highlighted “the spectacular reception the parade received from the public, who were impressed by the artistic quality, the hard work, and the passion of our troupes.”

The mayor also pointed out that “the Torrevieja Carnival is much more than a party; it's culture, it's tourism, and it's an economic and social engine for our city,” noting that it has been declared a Festival of Regional Tourist Interest and that more than 30 troupes and nearly 2,000 people currently participate in the parade each year. “These kinds of events allow us to project a modern, dynamic, and open image of Torrevieja, inviting people to discover it beyond the summer season,” he added.

Eduardo Dolón also highlighted the collaborative work between administrations, emphasizing that “this is just one of the many tourism promotion initiatives that will be carried out thanks to the collaboration agreement between the Tourism Departments of the Madrid City Council and the Torrevieja City Council.” This agreement, signed at FITUR 2022 by the two mayors, continues to bear fruit in the form of high-impact joint promotional initiatives.

Finally, the mayor of Torrevieja expressed his gratitude for “the effort, dedication, and talent of all the carnival groups, the Torrevieja Carnival Cultural Association, and all the people who make it possible for our carnival to be a benchmark both within and outside the Valencian Community,” concluding that “Torrevieja will continue to firmly support its carnival as one of its main cultural and tourist assets.”
