Music, light and color at the Torrevieja Carnival

Carnival 2026 officially kicks off tomorrow, Friday, January 30th, with the opening proclamation and the premiere of the documentary film "Carnival 2025," which will take place at the Torrevieja Municipal Theatre. The Torrevieja Carnival is establishing itself as one of the most spectacular and well-attended festive events in the Valencian Community.

The Torrevieja Carnival is back in style. Year after year, it reaffirms its position as one of the most important celebrations on the festive calendar of southeastern Spain, becoming a true landmark in the province of Alicante and attracting thousands of visitors from across the Valencian Community and neighboring regions. It's a festival that is lived intensely in every corner of the city of salt and that grows thanks to the work of more than 30 carnival groups and the participation of nearly 2,000 people in its parades.

The celebrations will officially kick off on Friday, January 30th , with the Carnival Opening Speech by comedian Susi Caramelo, and the premiere of the documentary film “Carnival 2025,” which will take place at the Torrevieja Municipal Theatre . The following day, Saturday, January 31st , the same venue will host the Coronation Gala of the 2026 Carnival King and Queen , one of the most emblematic and anticipated events of the program.

In February, on Saturday, February 7th, the 18th Drag Queen Gala 2026 will be held at the International Auditorium , an unmissable event that combines spectacle, creativity, and transgression. On Sunday, February 8th, one of the highlights of Carnival will take place: the Grand Parade and Competition , where music, color, and fantasy will flood the streets of Torrevieja with the participation of local troupes.

The program continues on Friday, February 13th, with the 6th Annual School Parade , which will fill the streets with excitement and joy as the municipality's schools participate. That same day will also feature the Grand Parade of Visiting Groups , reinforcing the open and participatory nature of the Torrevieja Carnival.

Saturday, February 14th , will feature the Night Parade , culminating in the Grand Awards Ceremony , celebrating the effort and creativity of all participating groups. On Sunday, February 15th , the Municipal Theatre will host the Carnival's "Teatrico," a theatrical performance designed for all ages.

The grand finale of the Torrevieja Carnival 2026 will take place on Saturday, February 21st , with the celebration of the National Chirigota Competition , which will be held at the International Auditorium , and which brings together some of the best groups on the national scene, confirming the prestige and projection of the Torrevieja carnival.

A complete and varied program that consolidates the Torrevieja Carnival, declared a Festival of Regional Tourist Interest , as one of the most participatory, creative and crowded in the Valencian Community, combining tradition, innovation and a firm commitment to culture and tourism.
