The improvement and enhancement work carried out by the Municipal Green Team reinforces the safety, environmental conservation and energy efficiency of the area.

The mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, accompanied by the councilor for Parks and Gardens, Concha Sala, visited the Molino del Agua Municipal Natural Area to supervise the improvement and enhancement work recently carried out by the Municipal Green Team.

The project has included improvements to infrastructure and security, forest management work, and the planning of an ambitious replanting program using native species. In addition, a significant portion of the park's public lighting has been renovated, enhancing safety and prioritizing energy efficiency.

During the visit, the mayor highlighted the human and technical effort of the municipal team, emphasizing the efficiency in carrying out the work that has restored the functionality and aesthetic appeal of this iconic space. Eduardo Dolón pointed out that these actions not only improve the landscape but also contribute to the conservation of local biodiversity against invasive species and the effects of time. In this regard, he personally congratulated the workers for the “exemplary coordination between the department's management and the operational staff,” which made this comprehensive renovation possible.

Among the completed works are the rehabilitation of three viewpoints, including the complete reconstruction of one due to its advanced state of disrepair. Additionally, the picnic tables have been repaired and the protective grates around the wells have been secured, eliminating potential risks to users.

Intensive clearing has also been carried out in areas where vegetation encroached on pedestrian walkways, restoring full accessibility to paths and sidewalks and improving visitor safety.

The Municipal Green Team has carried out extensive pruning, pruning of pine trees, and removal of dead vegetation. The resulting organic waste has been strategically piled for later removal by the company contracted for maintenance services.

The Councillor for Parks and Gardens, Concha Sala, has announced that these efforts are the prelude to a broader regeneration plan: “We are planning a comprehensive replanting with native species, mainly stone pine and other varieties optimal for this ecosystem, which will replace the dead specimens that have no possibility of recovery.”

Simultaneously, the company responsible for maintaining the public lighting has carried out a complete renovation of the park's lights, replacing the old, deteriorated globes with new models and implementing LED technology. This action significantly improves visibility and nighttime safety, as well as representing a significant step forward in sustainability and energy savings for the municipality.

The visit also served to highlight the coordination and collaboration between municipal workers, the Parks and Gardens department and the company awarded the service, consolidating a joint strategy for the conservation and continuous improvement of one of the natural spaces most beloved by the residents of Torrevieja.
